Just annoyed

I'm just fed up now after three months of owning this iPhone 17 pro Max. I have had nothing but trouble since day one, it's been changed twice already because it's been so unuser a friendly, it literally stalls non stop, the new device 17 pro max, the third one initially stalled during the phone start. I was sitting there for two hours while the phone was starting. It kept stalling and this was an eye opener of things to come.
Phone freezes, constantly freezes going online My signal is perfect, buts it's an issue, the phone is all over the place over where settings are concerned, they are not in the usual place and I have to google it to find out where they are. Siri keeps saying "I don't know who you" sometimes I have real issues getting online. It's a pain in the proverbial, I regret paying 1800 quid for this. I had a perfectly fine working iPhone 14, which was in excellent shape after 2 and 1/2- three years. I should've sent this phone back. I'm sorry iPhone 17 Pro Max, I should've sent you back! Coz my darling iPhone 14 was golden!
I just did a restart in the night and I woke up this morning to hello, what region are you in? Choose your network, blah blah blah and then I saw the age verification come up they wanted my bank details, a credit card, but I don't have a credit card because I don't borrow money. I don't need to. It wasn't accepting my debit card. I don't have a national ID. We don't have one in the UK, so I tried my passport, that wasn't having it either, it wasn't taking my face recognition, so it kept failing what a pain in that proverbial again! I had to press continue later, but the later button wasn't pressing. and I was there pulling my hair out for 10 minutes, pressing this continue button so I could continue and use my own phone. and after 10 minutes, pulling my hair out and getting my old phone out to book an Apple Service appointment I thought "I'm never doing another update ever again!"

Regulations escalate everywhere. In the Internet, and IRL. In Europe, in many countries you are not allowed to have a multitool in your pocket any more, because it's considered a weapon. What a bad joke.

This is not the fault of Apple. Blame the UK government. Apple has to comply with the regulations. Their hands are tied.

While not the same exact issue as you, three years ago I had a rather similar issue with a brand new iPhone 15 Pro. Went through two of them, brand new devices mind you, overheating to the point of bricking, for me to throw my hands up in the air and say to hell with pro model iPhones. I currently am using an iPhone SE 2022, and I don't think I have half of the issues of people with AI compatible iPhones these days.
For what it's worth, I'm sorry that you are experiencing this.
As for the age verification thing, that is unfortunately UK/EU law, as I understand it. 🙁

@Dennis Long - just to be strictly accurate, it is Parliament that passes legislation, not the government. This Act was actually passed when the previous Conservative government was in power, with cross-party support. Two-tier Keir's government has just brought it into force.

Brian, UK/EU? we're not the same place! The Online safety Act 2023 is UK legislation. I am not aware that the EU has adopted the same approach across all its member states, though some EU countries certainly have. Australia has also.

Getting back to the point of this post, it must be extremely frustrating especially as you are experiencing issues that others are not. Just a thought - when you set the phone up, are you attempting to restore from a backup or are you setting up as new? The problem with restoring from a backup can sometimes be that you carry over any software issues to the new phone. So, if something has gone wrong somewhere, you'll be replicating that. This might not be all that much help but it's hard to think of what's causing these problems for you.

On age verification, I'd encourage any of you over 18 to get a credit card, if nothing else so as to get round situations like this. I don't need to borrow money either, and you won't have to borrow money in real terms if you settle up your credit card bill on time every month.

I am aware they're considerably two different countries, or collection of countries. I was under the impression that both the UK and the EU had adopted this law, however.
My apologies.

The EU thinks of itself as a country - or, at least, some of the arch-federalists in the EU cling onto this belief; but the EU is made up of 27 nation states. These include the republic of Ireland, but not the UK. Sorry to harp on about this but saying the UK/EU is like saying the US/Mexico.
