Hello my friends! I hope and wish you are all well.
It's been a while since I posted anything, although I actively and weekly follow all the content on the site, sorry about that.
Today I was browsing 9TO5MAC to read news about Apple, and I noticed how slow VoiceOver gets when the page elements are updating. To explain better, this site doesn't have links to previous or next pages, like AppleVis does, so the pages change as we scroll, plus there are many images and automatic slideshows, which seems to stutter VoiceOver.
Just to clarify my use case, this is experienced on an iPhone 16 Pro running iOS 26.3.1, browsing with Safari without many configuration changes.
What do you think about this?
Best regards to all!

Can you provide a link?
To the page you're having troubles with, that is. I ask because, if it's the website I found through Google, I am not having any problems with slow down on my iPhone SE 2022. Granted, I have not yet updated to iOS 26, so that could be an issue...
no issue
Note I go by heading no issue. I can go from story to story with no issue.
Another thing when you click on a story go by headings.

Are you using an add blocker? I find that a lot of these news sites have content that is constantly updated, which doesn't play nice with VoiceOver. Add blockers help some with that, although there are probably better ones than the one I use.
Also, have you turned off live regions? This makes VoiceOver stop interupting reading whenever new content changes. You can turn this on or off on a per site basis.
Also, if all you care about is the news that 9 to 5 Mac puts out, you might consider following them in the news app. I have Apple set up as a favorite, so get all Apple-related news in one place there. I read Mac Rumors in Safari though because I like reading their forums.
Slow Websites
I don't really have problems in Safari with pages loading slow. I've gotten really tired of every page having some floating pop-up asking about cookies or using a native app though. Like someone else recommended, I highly recommend using an ad blocker, because many embedded ads are what cause weird behavior while using VoiceOver.
I know this because when i follow a link in the Twitter/X app, I hate their new web interface thing. It doesn't seem to honor my pop-up blocker, and there are often animated ads every screen or so, and VoiceOver often gets hung up on these and repeatedly announces timers for video clips and whatever else instead of reading the page content. Many sites are almost impossible to read when clicking them in X natively. There's a night and day difference reading them in Safari with a pop-up blocker.
Re: Ad blockers
This is what I currently use, for what it's worth.

My biggest problem is during page changes.
While I'm scrolling through the first few titles, everything is fine. The problem arises when I continue scrolling until the page changes and loads more articles. In this case, even touching the screen doesn't help, and the only result is waiting for VoiceOver to resume normal behavior. I use AdBlock Plus as an ad blocker, and the link you provided is correct; it's the main page of 9to5mac.
A Possible Related Issue
I think what you are reporting is possibly similar to a long-standing issue I have been experiencing with VoiceOver responsiveness during content playback.
For a couple years now, I have experienced an issue where VoiceOver responsiveness is slowed when there is audio or video playing in the background. I experience this issue most in apps and websites where what appears to be video is playing, but it occurs with audio apps as well (albeit to a somewhat lesser degree). It is so bad that I have long since given up on reading news articles on my phone except through an RSS reader.
Try disabling the following settings
Under Settings, Accessibility, Motion, make sure the following are disabled:
• Auto-Play Animated Images
• Auto-Play Video Previews
These, along with a good ad block filter, should make your web browsing a little less headache inducing.
RE: A Possible Related Issue
Yes, I have that one too. Even listening to AppleVision audio podcasts has become difficult using Safari with VoiceOver.
