How do i download the app to my mac. Do i go to the appstore?

You cannot get the game from the app store. You'll have to visit the developer's website and get it from there.

So for the first pack it says I use action keys space, enter, tab, backspace and arrows. In the manual it describes up, down, left and right arrows as being different action buttons.

But if I go to the learn pack section, none of the arrows seem to do anything on the Mac. I don't use quick nav. The other 4 buttons seem to work ok.

Is this a bug or am I just being stupid?

If the pack you're playing doesn't have the arrows defined to perform actions, they won't do anything in that pack.

The intro pack does say that one of the five buttons is "arrows" without specifying which one. None of them seem to work though.

That may be because they were not defined in the pack in and of itself. When learning the pack, the bit of the message regarding the arrows is always included as far as I am aware.

Oh ok, maybe it is just a little bug in the pack learning page then. This is what it says:

This pack has 5 actions. Use Space, tab, enter, backspace and arrows. Press shift along with one of the action keys to hear the action completed sound. To hear the stop action, press the period key (to the right of comma). To exit press Q

So maybe the 5th action is not an arrow but the stop action?

Anyway, thanks for clearing that up.

One who's never known / played that game has no idea of what the game is about.

Yes I had this exact same problem when I came across it. Having no prior knowledge of the original game, it meant nothing to me.

I've only dipped my toe in it so far but my understanding is that the game is made up of packs. Each pack consists of a number of sound effects mapped to a button.

So before you play the game you need to go to the learn pack option where you get to try them and figure them out. So on the default pack, enter plays a duck sound for example and there are other sounds mapped to tab, backspace and space bar..

When the game starts, it plays music and the sound effects play over the top. You need to press the right button for the sound effect and time it properly to score the most points. So if it plays a duck sound you press enter. There is also another sound which means you shouldn't press any buttons at all.

So you have to remember which sound effects relate to which buttons, and other than that it's mostly a matter of rhythm and coordination.

As you play you earn points and can then unlock other packs.

Someone may be able to describe it better or I have missed something really important but that's my understanding of the game.

I still really love this game and have been playing for a few years now. As you score more points in the game, you earn coins, which you can use to purchase other packs, safeguards and minigames. A safeguard will save you if you happen to make an incorrect move during gameplay. However, if you run out of safeguards and you make an incorrect move, it's game over. Some of the levels in some packs are quite difficult, so you definitely need safeguards to make it through those levels. In the new version, it is also possible to rate the pack, from 1 to 5 stars.
