a touch ID question

i just recently received a shiny new iphone 5S for my birthday yesterday. everything worked really well in the setup process. i got a few fingers working with touch id only to come to find out that the app store is still asking me for my apple id to download apps. i did enable the thing in the settings that says to use touch id for purchasing things threw the app store, so i'm really curious why its not asking me to use my finger and continues to ask for my apple id. any help would be appreciated.

Hello. Congratulations for your new birthday gift: (iPhone 5S). All you have to do is to enter your Apple ID password at least once for it to be tied to your fingerprints. You will be asked to place your fingers the next time you purchase apps. Hope this helps.

I got mine back when they came out and Touch ID was so cool! But I had the exact same problem. It never worked for purchases. I think it worked once. Then it just always asked for my password, no matter what I did. LIke you, I had all the proper settings in place. But whatever, it was still cool to unlock my phone with my print. Until that stopped working too. I hit Google and tried all the tricks I found for getting even more scans and after nothing worked and the phone kept needing my passcode to unlock, I just disabled Touch ID. That's been my experience with it. I hope yours gets better.

hopefully i don't have that experience. at this point the touch ID is still working to unlock my phone, but it still isn't working to make purchases. i will be very disappointed to find that it stops working because there is going to be a few jailbrake tweeks that i intend to use on this device that use touch iD.

I'd hit Google then if I were you. There's quite a lot of stuff out there about touch ID being less than great. There are some good tricks for getting better scans.

My apologies. I haven't ever jailbroken my iOS device's firmware, I find it risky.

Hi. The thing is that even when you use Touch ID for purchases, it still brings up the same dialogue box requesting your password. Place your finger on the Touch ID sensor at this point and it should work. Bare in mind that the first time you do this it will still want your password and should ask you to confirm that you want to use Touch ID for purchases. Also, just like with the passcode on the lock-screen, the first time you purchase after each time you re-boot the phone, you will need to enter your password. HTH

I've been attempting to download some free apps for use with my iPhone 7, which I got earlier this year as a belated birthday/Christmas present. I wish to heck that someone would come up with a way to either increase the allotted time one has to log into these things, or just scrap the whole issue of time-outs. Apple isn't the only culprit in this respect. I will definitely look at the Google stuff, but I really don't feel comfortable about jailbreaking my Iphone especially since this is my very first i-device. Touch ID is enabled for unlocking my device, and for apps. It seems to work pretty well for iPhone unlock but not for apps. This is the only problem I've had thus far on my iPhone, so that's why I'm kinda upset it's not working properly. I think I'll just try and call AppleCare or their accessibility hotline later this week. These phones are truly awesome, and I want to take advantage of as much as I can.
