Apple has today introduced the iPhone 17e, the next generation of its more affordable iPhone model.
The iPhone 17e comes with the latest-generation A19 processor and support for MagSafe and QI2 wireless charging, with speeds up to 15W. The iPhone 17e also includes the Apple-designed C1X modem, which Apple says is up to two times faster than the C1 modem in the iPhone 16e.
The iPhone 17e includes a 48MP Fusion Camera system, giving users the capabilities of two cameras in one. The device can take videos in 4K with Dolby Vision up to 60 fps, and it can also record videos in Spacial Audio.
Screen size for the iPhone 17e is unchanged from the previous model at 6.1 inches. The iPhone 17e comes in black, white, and a new soft pink and is available in either 256 or 512GB storage capacities. Pricing starts at US$599. The iPhone 17e will be available for preorder on March 4, 2026 with availability beginning March 11, 2026.

Battery
What about the battery and speakers? Long live cats.
Yeah, there’s finally another phone in pink
Yay, there’s finally another phone in pink. Yes, I am totally blind and I have been since birth, but since I was like five years old, my favorite color was always pink. I thought it was a girl color so I just went with that. If I didn’t already get my iPhone 15 I would probably get this one. Yeah it’s definitely a great question about the speakers though I definitely want to know what kind of speakers that thing has to read. I found battery life to be pretty good at my current iPhone 15 so yeah, this is good news though. Yes my iPhone is pink. My iPhone 15 is pink.
An interesting new budget option
This certainly narrows the gap between the basic and cheapest iPhones. The inclusion of the A19 chip is better value than I would have expected. That should be able to support future iOS versions for years. having the storage start at 256 gb is again very good value. That should be plenty for most people. Of course, they should really raise the amount of free iCloud storage .
I'm glad they included MagSafe but wish they offered the 25 w speed I can get on my iPhone 16 Pro. That's enough power to keep it charging even when it's doing things like playing music. Before I upgraded from 15 w MagSafe charging speed, I'd find that my battery level had drained at the end of a long Zoom meeting or work cession. Those extra ten wats can make a big difference.
Besides battery life which can be managed using power banks for the most part, I'm also wondering how much RAM they included in the 17E. That apparently makes a big difference when it comes to Apple Intelligence. Going forward, this may become more of an important consideration as the transition gets going for real.
I'm not as concerned with the camera. At this point, whatever they include will certainly be more then good enough for the day to day needs of blind people who aren't professional photographers.
some great news and some bad news
First of all, the good news is yes I like the processor. Secondly, the availability is on my sister-in-law's birthday, so she can wait those 3 months. The bad news is first of all, where is my cubby blue?
RAM
Well Michael it better be more for the so call SIRI 2.0 that suppose to be out this year. I have the feeling we find ET first than apple releasing the new Siri. Long live cats.
8 GB
I suspect the 17e will have 8 GB RAM. This seems to be the new baseline for most modern iOS devices.
Re: RAM and battery
The A19 included has 8 GB of RAM, same as in the regular 17 and last year’s 16e.
As for battery, it uses an absolutely identical 4,005 mAh pack as in last year’s 16e. Apple says this should result in up to 26 hours of video playback, same spec as last year’s 16e.

So nothing new? Just the cameras!!! Wow. Apple wants more money!!!!!!! Long live meows.
Re: Holger Fiallo
There are five upgrades the 17e has over the 16e:
1: MagSafe support for faster magnetic wireless charging, and other MagSafe accessories.
2: the A19 chip, compared to last years A18 chip.
3: Apple’s new C1X cellular data modem and N1 wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip.
4: double the starting storage, starting at 256 GB instead of the previous 128 GB while remaining at the same price.
5: A new “Soft Pink” option, the 16e was only available in black and white.
All relatively small upgrades in the grand scheme of things, but given that this is the budget model, and usually the option that’s purchased in bulk for businesses, they are nice upgrades. Also the doubling of storage across the board with absolutely no price increase is always welcome.

Have anyone done a test if is faster if VO is on? Long live cats. PS. To me it same the speed compare from the 13 pro and 16 pro max. Is so much that VO can handle. Maybe that is why we are having so many bugs. Nuts.
Re: Holger Fiallo
I would highly doubt it’s a noticeable change, I certainly didn’t notice any improvement going from my 15 Pro (A17) to the iPhone Air (A19).
I also rarely have VoiceOver issues on iOS.
