I just saw a post on Facebook about the Scribe Me app, so I thought I'd give it a shot. Has anyone tried it?
It's another AI app. What I like about it, though, is that it has live assist, which is essentially like live AI. While the free version only does give you 4 minutes every 24 hours, I like that it describes consistently rather than having to constantly say "What do you see now? What about now?"
You can also take pictures and scan things, although I'm not sure what the scanning feature actually does I haven't tried it.
I was just curious if anyone else heard about it and tried this app. Seems pretty cool!

Really like ScribeMe.
I've been using ScribeMe for quite a while and really enjoy it, especially the PDF Reader.
The Live Assistant is also pretty cool but I'm still getting a feel for it. :-)
Only feature I do not use is Power Point scan (just because I haven't had a reason to yet), and Snap and Scribe to describe photos. I have tested Snap and Scribe and it works just fine, it's more personal preference for me as I'm very used to BeMyAI/BeMyEyes for quickly snapping and describing a photo.
snap NScribe
I actually find that Scribe Me is a bit more detailed with image descriptions, but that's just my experience.
• Question about the subscription
Hello, I have a question regarding the subscription of this app and I want to know if anyone knows the answer. If I subscribe and my wife logs into the same account as me, will we be able to use the app together with only my subscription?
Need to bring this back up
Ok so I’ve been trying this app for a while now and it is pretty impressive. According to fb, this app is now officially on the Meta glasses and I want to get my hands on that lol.
Hope there is a lifetime subscription
If not then this app is a big NO for me.
Oh wow!
Just tested live assist on Meta glasses and I’m impressed! Wow. It will automatically describe things as you’re looking around and if you say you’re looking for a door, it will keep an eye out for a door. This is pretty wild. The only thing I wish it could do is mute the mic from the glasses and pause and start live descriptions. Other than that this is pretty epic.
They need to stop social media spamming
I actively chose to not download it due to their marketing practice of spamming unrelated forums and groups. This is not the way to attract customers .
@Mlth
I get that but I also understand that marketing to the right audience is genuinely hard, especially for a small team working with a limited budget. They could run Sponsored ads but they are expensive and scammers have been using sponsored ads a lot lately which makes sponsored ads not really as trustworthy. Plus, they’re now becoming super invasive. It’s definitely a fair criticism when they show up somewhere they don’t belong. That said, I haven’t personally seen their posts in off-topic groups, and from what I’ve used, it’s a solid app. They’ve got a tough job because keep in mind they’re not just building a product, they’re marketing it alongside serving their members as well. I’ve been on both sides of the table so I can definitely understand the challenges.
@Stephen
I see your point, and it's quite a valid one. However, they use machine translated posts to spam blindness-related forums that aren't related to apps or accessibility at all, and that's over the line and too invasive imo.
I can't help but think that if a company engages in shady practices like this, how do i feel about live streaming vision data from my home to them? The answer is "not very good".
using it on the meta glasses
How does that work on the glasses? I just wear them and open the app? I agree I wish you could pause them.
@ Alicia Krage
No there is a whole set up process like putting your glasses into developer mode etc. if you are on the email list they’re slowly rolling it out to users. They would be sending you a TestFlight link which intern you would download the beta version of the app.
Live assist is very impressive
I don't have glasses but I'm very impressed with live assist. It can react to things in real time which is what I've been looking for.
Dependant on how good it is as I use it in the next few days, I might even buy a subscription.
about Scribe Me
Hi everyone!
Let's start with the downside first:
The price is quite high—it costs 110 Brazilian Reais here. The fact that you can only use it for 4 minutes a day isn't very attractive either. If that could be expanded to maybe 10 minutes and the price were a bit lower, it would be much more appealing.
Now, for how it’s made me feel so far... I don’t even know how to describe it.
Happy, excited, surprised.
I just did a small test in the EA FC menu. I asked it to read which option was selected and guys, it actually read it! The ability to customize it in real-time also got me really excited. For example, it started reading one way, so I asked it to read the entire new screen whenever the display changed—otherwise, just the selected option—and it did it!
And it did it automatically!
Even though it’s expensive, I’m going to buy a one-month subscription to test it out and see if it fits into my workflow. When it started reading, I admit I almost cried. It’s a dream come true. I’m still going to do more tests, especially with gameplay, but if this is what we have today, just imagine the near future!
Incredible!
And about the Meta glasses—now I really want to buy a pair.
PS: All tests were performed on an Android device, a Galaxy S23.
when using live ai
i would like to pay to use live ai, even on my phone for now but surely pausing it is obvious, or muting?
when using the metta glasses as well can the output of scribe me come from the phone speaker or is it always the glasses?
