VoiceTag: Label Your Objects with Your Voice Using NFC Tags

Hello everyone,

I'm excited to introduce VoiceTag, my very first app that I developed as a blind developer.

What is VoiceTag?

VoiceTag allows you to associate voice memos with your everyday objects using NFC tags. No more peeling braille labels or complicated systems: simply stick an NFC tag on any object, record a voice memo, and you're done!

How does it work?

  1. Stick an NFC tag on the object you want to identify (DVDs, medication boxes, clothes, folders, etc.)
  2. Open VoiceTag and scan the tag with your iPhone
  3. Record a voice memo describing the object
  4. The next time you scan that tag, your memo will automatically play

Main features:

  • Burst mode: Scan multiple tags in succession without having to press a button between each scan
  • Automatic stop: Recording stops automatically after 3 seconds of silence
  • Backup and import: Export and import your memos to save or transfer them
  • Tag locking: Protect your tags against accidental modifications
  • Complete customization: Enable or disable features according to your needs in the settings
  • Universal compatibility: The app works with any type of NFC tag compatible with your phone (I sell the app, not the tags!)

The app is fully VoiceOver compatible and was designed from the ground up with accessibility as the top priority. VoiceTag's philosophy is simple: an easy and intuitive experience for everyone by default, with advanced options for geeks who want them!

Coming features:

Future versions will include (always as optional features): - Automatic backup - Scanning tags with text only - Enhanced tags combining text and voice - And other surprises!

Availability and pricing:

  • iOS: https://apps.apple.com/app/voice-tag/id6756963059
  • Android: Coming soon on Google Play
  • Pricing:
    • Annual subscription: €9.99/year
    • Lifetime purchase: €29.99

The app is available in French, English, Spanish, German, and Italian.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or suggestions for improvement!

The application is truly excellent!
It’s definitely something I plan to purchase.
However, I would like to suggest adding the ability to delete labels, so that audio files do not remain in the application when a label is removed or becomes invalid.

Because I’m not totally clear on this, it’s just just an app that you label something with in the you have to use your phone to find the object that you labeled or can you actually put a physical label on this and then use the phone to scan the object? There’s something similar to this. It’s not an app it’s called a friend label and that actually causes physical labels along with your own recorded voice to label objects. I’m not sure if this is the same idea so I’m just trying to get some clarification. This sounds like a cool idea, though. Thanks. The thing that I was familiar with was called the pen friend audio labeler.

Hello! Thank you for your question. VoiceTag does indeed use physical NFC tags that you place on your objects. You record a voice memo through the app, which is then stored on the NFC tag itself.

To listen to the memo, you open the VoiceTag app and bring your iPhone close to the tag to scan it. It's similar to the Pen Friend you mentioned, but using NFC technology and your smartphone: no need for an additional dedicated device, just your phone and affordable NFC tags.

The tags remain programmed and can be read as many times as needed. The app is fully compatible with VoiceOver for optimal use.

Feel free to ask if you have any other questions!

Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm delighted that you like VoiceTag.

You're absolutely right: the ability to delete memos is not yet available in the current version. I wanted to keep the app as simple as possible for the initial release, and the audio files are quite lightweight in the format I chose. However, I completely understand this need and I will implement this feature in the next version by adding a delete button on the memo once you've listened to it.

Thank you for this constructive feedback, it helps me improve the app!
