Hi everyone, I hope you're all doing well and staying safe. Currently, I have an iPhone 15 Pro running the latest version of iOS 26. I know that in text fields, when you bring up the keyboard, you can double-tap with two fingers and dictation will automatically start. For some reason, this has stopped working for me in the latest version of iOS 26. Also, I have found the location of my dictation button has changed its position in the keyboard across some apps.
Does anybody know what the problem is and how to resolve it? This is very annoying, and I would like to get this resolved as soon as possible. Thank you very much for your help everyone 😊

Have you double checked it is still turned on?
Hi Trey, maybe as part of an update the dictation setting turned itself off for some reason. You can check by going into settings, general, keyboard. There is the setting to turn it on and off. Even if showing as on maybe worth turning it off and on again then hard resetting your phone. Maybe it will work.
A restart fixed this for me
I had the same experience. Restarting my iPhone fixed it. Hopefully the same will be true for you too.
Similar issue
Have you reported it using the Feedback app? I'm having a similar issue where using the two-finger double-tap to start dictation doesn't work when renaming a folder on the homescreen. Using the dictation button works, however. I tested this in other edit fields like in the Notes and Messages app and wasn't running into this problem. I reported it to Apple using the Feedback app, and if you wish to reference it, the feedback id is FB20727455.
can't reproduce this on a 16E
I'm unable to reproduce this on a iPhone 16E. Note I'm not saying it is not an issue. I'm just saying I can't reproduce it.
Following up on comments here.
Hi,
Thank you for your help. Everyone. A restart did not fix the issue for me. I double-checked it was turned on and turned it off and back on. This did also not fix the issue for me. What's the Feedback app? Can someone post a link to it here please? Thank you very much.
Get the cursor into the edit box, then dictate
Sorry if this was already covered. I've had this problem, and this is what works for me.
Feedback app
while in Safari's address / search field, type in the below url scheme:
applefeedback://
and then press "go"
Hope this helps.
