iOS and iPadOS

the personal voice creation process on an iphne 14 pro max and i guess other non-AI enabled phones is still 150 phrases, and its quality is not that of ios 26 with the new 10 phrases quota that have to be read, i wonder, what would happen if i switched to a 17 pro or air, to the voice? would it be the same low quality as in ios 18

Hello,

About two years ago I created my Personal Voice using my then iPhone 15 Pro Max. I have just created a new one with my iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Despite there being only ten phrases to record now, the voice appears to be of a higher quality compared to my original one when used with my iPhone 17 Pro Max.

One odd thing, is that the new voice appears to blend my Welsh accent with a sort of US timbre that was not present in my Oder voice.

I note that one can only choose US English and I wonder whether this may account for it, either way has any other non US people observed the same effect on voices they have created I wonder?

16 pro max and iOS 26.1. It is not smooth and it tend to be slow it you flick left and right. Still need more work on it. Long live cats.

Does this mean that we need a Non iPhone won’t use the 10 phrases? I’m asking because one of my friends wanted to use this feature. My friend uses an iPhone 13 mini. That’s obviously not an AI capable phone.

even the lower quality voice picks up my UK accent with no issues even though UK English not supported which is a bit silly. Anyway i had to record the 150 phrases but would have re-record i guess if i had an iphone 15 pro or newer

Comparing the two Personal Voices I have created, I can say that the voice created with my iPhone17 Pro Max running iOS26 is of a higher quality than the voice created with my iPhone 15 Pro Max running I think iOS17.

That said, the earlier voice matches my own accent more closely. I wonder if this is in part to do with the phrases used to create the later voice. For example words like status are spoken more like US English and not with a British English accent.

Strange that one can only create a Personal Voices with US English when other language choices are available.

How does personal voice operate when navigating on a newer phone? If you are using this voice to read for extended periods of time, is your phone's battery draining more rapidly than normal?
