Hi all,
My apologies if these are stupid questions or if the answer has been posted somewhere on this site and I just can't find it.
Firstly, I added two cards to Wallet, I can pay if I unlock my phone completely then go to apple wallet and double tap on the card.
I know you can open the wallet on your default card, supposedly by double clicking the home button, This is alicated to app swicher because of VO and I honestly don't think you can change that? If i'm wronge someone please tell me.
So how does that work exactly. Also do you have to double tap the card, or just set it as default and then change it to your other one if needed?
Related to that, I'm guessing when I get my 16E I will double tap the Wake button instead, making this post redundant?
Thank you in advance.
Regards,
Melissa.
PS:
When will they make it so you can do things with multiple presses and press and holds of the action button and the wake button? (LOL)
PPS:
What's the difference between the back tap that's in VO's settings and the one found in the touch settings, and can they be use to trigger shortcuts like to turn on and off VO on my (Haven't got yet) 16E?

I donβt ever remember it being the home button
Not sure about phones with a home button, but even then double click on home for app switcher is a system wide thing, voiceover or not, so it wouldnβt make sense. Try double clicking the power button
How wallet works
From what I remember on older moddles with the home button, you have to double press the power button. Then if using touch id, touch id to pay, or if face id, face id to pay, but yeah as soon as you pay your default card will be charged once the phone is brought close to the card reader.
As somebody who owns an iPhone with a home button...
Using my iPhone SE 3rd generation,I can tell you for a fact, that double pressing the home button while on the lock screen, does in fact activate Apple Pay/wallet. If you have multiple cards, you could then select which card you want to use, or otherwise just let it use whatever card you have set up as default. And yes, you will get a message to, "hold near reader", for the payment to go through.
Edit: to switch cards, double tap on the one that will be displayed, should be your default, then you'll have an option to switch to a different card/payment option.
HTH.
Maybe I should delete this post?
I'm so sorry guys, I feel really stupid now.
I figured it out. You have to double click the home button on it's own. I was pressing the power button to wake the phone and bring up the lock screen which triggerd the app swicher. It never occured to me they might do different things... My bad.
No worries
These forums exist for questions to be answered concerning how to perform different features on Apple devices. π
Also, I edited my post above for directions on how to switch cards at time of purchase.

Definitely as Brian said, no worries. You're not alone. I don't completely understand Apple cash. I have some in the Wallet app but have to read more about how to use it and maybe even be able to apply it toward my Apple Card payment?
Home Button
I trigger the wallet from time to time with the home button because I start doing the voodoo finger dance to open the app switcher before I've unlocked the phone.
And the other side of that is I started pressing the power button then placing my finger on the home button to get much better results from the reader. Turns out, you can't press the home button with the force you would to activate it while recording a fingerprint, and the difference is enough to have caused me a couple of years of frustration. I thought it was because I was sanding off my fingerprints while woodworking or stone polishing. Maybe my reflexes just aren't as fast as others to let up on the pressure before the reader kicks in.
