Cannot Connect Braille Display to iPhone 17 Pro Max

Braille on Apple Products

Hi all,

I have been busy so I haven't been able to post here. Anyway I wanted to ask if anyone is having issues connecting their Braille Display to the iPhone 17 Pro Max?
i'm on the 26.0.1 update, and each time i select my Braille display from the list, VoiceOver says, "Connection Unsuccesful." I have ensured that my Braille display is in pairing mode, on and nearby and it still occurs. I have also closed the Settings app, restarted both devices and no luck.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Which Braille display?
I have seen this occur also if a Braille display is out of pairing storage which is why it is helpful to know which display. I do not think the Brailliant has a limit for example, but the Focus 14 5th Gen will only store five connections.

I'm using the APH Chameleon 20 which is a display made by the American Printing House for The Blind

That runs about the same firmware as the Brailiant BI20-X. Instead of going through Settings>Accessibility>VoiceOver>Braille try pairing under Settings>Bluetooth. After it pair it will also show up under VoiceOver>Braille again so you can customize commmands.

I had a similar problem with my Mantis. I had 3 devices paired to the Mantis which all suddenly disappeared. When I tried to pair again, my 17 Pro wasn't having it. Initially, I couldn't get the Mantis to appear on my phone. I rebooted both the Mantis and phone and that made the Mantis show up. However, nothing I tried would make the pairing work. I kept getting pairing unsuccessful no matter what I tried. Ultimately, I did a factory reset on the Mantis and that fixed it. All is working normally now.
