Hi all, I have been trying to use the Looktel money reader. When I open the app voice over says running, but when I hold a bank note near to the phone does not respond. I have tried holding near the frunt and back of the phone. I am using UK bank notes and euros bank notes. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app but to no avail. I do not know if the currency is not reconnises or if there is a problem with the app. I am using the iphone 5s running iOS 7.0.4 Many thanks to all Joe

When you say you're putting the bank notes near to the cameras, I'm wondering how near? The app works with the rear-facing camera and I get best results by holding my iPhone about six inches or fifteen centimetres above the bank note. You need to hold still for a few seconds and Voiceover should announce the denomination. The app does work with British pounds and Euros. However, as Bank of England bank notes are of slightly different sizes I tend to use a simple bank note sizing guide available from RNIB. It's just a bit of folded over plastic with four steps at one end to mark the different sizes of bank notes. This method is silent which is preferable if you're in a crowded shop and don't want those around you to know what money you have. The money reader app comes into its own when dealing with unfamiliar currency or those countries which have all their bills the same size. Hope this helps. Andrew
