Apple Beta Releases
Here's what I wrote to Apple. Hope they actually add those sounds.
Add the following to the background sounds as new options:
  • Fan Hum (quiet, smooth air conditioner/fan hum)
  • Computer (a computer running quietly with smooth fan noise and possibly hard drive clicks heard while reading/writing data)
  • Typing (typing on a keyboard, could be combined with the computer sound mentioned above)
  • Radio Static
  • Forest (birds chirping)
  • Desert (either silent desert with crickets, or a sandstorm, which could also be added as a separate option)
  • Swamp
  • Tundra/Arctic
  • Snowstorm
  • Thunder (with and without rain, in addition to the already available rain sounds)
  • Rowing
  • Sailboat
  • Underwater
  • Submarine
  • Car (idle)
  • Motorcycle (idle)
  • Truck (idle)
  • Hovercraft
  • Drone
  • Glider
  • Helicopter
  • Rocket Thrust
  • Martian Atmosphere (a 3-D simulation inspired by the real recording captured through Perseverance’ microphone, with every detail from the extremely thin atmosphere and low atmospheric pressure to dust particles moving in the wind)
  • Spacesuit (the equipment and systems inside, clearly audible, with absolute silence outside in outer space, except for faint noises that might be heard, depending on the current mission or situation)
  • Space Station
  • Digital Noise (brief, high-pitched digital beeps at random pitches, similar to the ringtone Digital, though shorter)

Share Your Bug Reports with AppleVis

If you experience a bug in Apple Beta Software, the most important thing you can do is to file a report in Feedback Assistant. Please do not assume that Apple is already aware of a bug or that your report won't make a difference; your report may provide crucial information, and submitting bug reports directly to Apple helps them reproduce and resolve the issue faster. The more reports they receive, the higher the priority Apple is likely to give to fixing the bug.

If you are using beta software, please use the Feedback Assistant on your device to submit feedback and bug reports. If you are using a public release, this blog post explains how to report the issue and what information to include.

In 2025, AppleVis launched the Community Bug Reporting Program with the goal of improving the quality and quantity of information we share with the community about bugs in Apple software releases. If you would like to contribute to this effort, please submit your reports via our Community Bug Report Form.

All reports shared with AppleVis must first be filed with Apple via Feedback Assistant. More information about the Community Bug Program is available here.

Horse gallop/trot? Bike? Elevator? Washing machine? Dishwasher? Fridge? Morse code/telegraph? Typewriter? Wall clock? Grandfather clock? Library? Traffic?

instead of having apple add them... Make it so users can add sounds themselves. Of course this would require knowledge on how to say, properly loop audio for one but, instead of having god knows how many sounds; that could fit people a lot better.
That plus, the helicopter sound is a tough one to pull off, as some helicopters are really loud; so it might not fit with everyone. Same with jets; some jets are louder than others, parcially depending on what state the engine is in, cruzing? Take off thrust? Helicopters though; don't have different engine states, so what you hear at takeoff power is what you get, and as said, some helicopters are... Loud. Think huie? That thing is loud. A ecuriel b2? That one would likely fit as it’s a nice, fairly quiet, relaxing sound. A bell... Again; quite loud; yes; even at idle so... Helicopter is one of those sounds that, whilst neet, would have to be really... carefully chosen.

Or, if nothing else, make it so you can download ringtones and/or alert tones from the iTunes Store app, and assign them as a background sound in iOS.

  1. Some sounds are intended for relaxation, while others help mask environmental noise or ringing (tinnitus).
  2. I did think of requesting Apple to let users import their own loops, but then Apple wouldn't bother to add their own loops. So first things first. Let's find out how they respond to these requests and then see if can also request that we import our own loops.

This is probably going to come out differently than how intended so please just understand that I don’t mean it this way. I think sometimes the feedback relief for Apple is things that are very trivial. I know sometimes people need background sounds though. So maybe we should just be focusing on the features that we do have working properly rather than telling Apple, which things we want them to add all the time. But there is one good thing about the feedback that you give to Apple. They are reading all of it and they are listening to it. If there’s enough people that want more background sounds than I’m sure you’ll probably get some more. But I still think for now the focus should be making sure the features that are there are working properly. I personally would find background noise is super distracting because of having the need to use voiceover. But that good night is also my own individual used case so that could be very different from somebody else’s. I have to use voice voice control. So I would find any kind of background noises to be really distracting and getting in the way of my voice over speech that I need to have. That’s just my opinion though. I mean we’re allowed to have one and we’re all allowed to tell Apple what we think we want and yes, they do listen to us read all of our feedback and they will implement whatever they feel that most people want.
