To do this your going to want to add an email account in settings. Select other. which is the last option under the add account header. Input: your name,, email address, password, and a description of the account. On the next page it will ask you if you want to use IMAP or Pop3. I believe by default imap is selected so your going to want to select the pop3 option.
Here is how to do this:
Note you will want to choose other when setting it up.
1 when setting up the account intentionally mistype the email address on purpose.
2 fill out everything else correctly.
3 hit next
4 it will say it couldn't verify the info.
5 At that point, it will give you the choice for IMAP or POP3. Note IMAP is selected as default; if you don't want that, choose POP3 and retype the email
address correctly.
6 continue as normal and enjoy.

Don't know why people like to use pop3. That's dated but whatever floats your boat I suppose.
I want Pop3 because I prefer it.
