Hey guys, I wanted to tell you about a new app that I developed called ScribeMe. It is a visual assistant and document scanner that can describe images. You can also upload multiple images at once to save you time when you have many photos that needs description, and you can ask questions about any image and even compare them. For any person who speaks multiple languages, you can choose the image description language separately from the app language. Not just that, but you can also upload any document such as PDF or PowerPoint and ScribeMe will scan text and also describe any photo found inside the file making documents much more accessible, and you can also chat with the document or lets ScribeMe summarize it for you. The best part is all your files are saved in the app so you could return to them anytime. I will leave you the link for the app and please give me feedback as I am trying to improve it.

Great app
Itās a great app and I love it.
How about Portuguese among the languages?
The app looks great and having the images described inside the texts is really a great idea, congratulations on the idea! It would only be interesting to have more languages, both in the application interface and in the image descriptions. Among them, good old Portuguese would be fantastic, in any of the variants. I only mentioned Brazilian Portuguese because I'm Brazilian, but Portuguese is beautiful in any variant. Laughter! In addition, it would be interesting to include in the settings a master prompt where we could give the guidelines for the description. So I could say something like: use the Audio description Associate method. Or: use the Center Diagram method. Or simply. Describe everything from top to bottom, from left to right, from general to specific; be clear, concise and objective. Hugs!
share sheet and free version limitations
Hi,
Is this app available through the share sheet? I tried sharing a photo, but when I went to the share sheet, I had to activate the 'more' button, and found Scribe Me. When I selected Scribe me, I just got a sound and that was it, no message or anything, not even anything saying this capability isn't available in the free version. What can I do with the free version? Or is there even a free version, or does the user have to pay for everything? Some clarification would be great.
Thanks.
Brazilian Portuguese language
Thank you for your feedback. I will add this language very soon and I will notify you once itās done.
App availability on share sheet
Yes, the app is available on the share sheet however, we noticed a bug and we are working on fixing it. You have a feature on the app which gives you 50 descriptions per month for documents and you can upload individual photos totally free with no limitations.
thanks for the clarification
Hi,
Thanks for the clarification. I just uploaded a photo from my library, and took a picture from within the app, and it gave me a really good and accurate description. I'll be keeping this app around.
Thanks again.
Image description feedback
Thankk you Tara for your feedback. Once I fix the sharing bug, Iāll make sure to tell you here
Current thoughts. Plus, feedback and suggestions
I've actually seen your application mentioned quite a lot, and today I thought, "Okay, you know what? I have some free time on my hands. Let me check it out to see what's happening over here." Sometimes, it's hard to adopt new technology when we have many applications out there that do similar tasks. After testing this app ā granted, I've played with it for about 30 minutes ā this is what I have to say.
First, I want to point out that I love the design of the app. It's simple, very intuitive, and not cluttered. The interface is minimalistic and accessible, so thank you for that. The processing sound you have is enjoyable to listen to, and the app is snappy. We get descriptions very quickly, which is definitely a plus for you. That said, Iām curious if thereās a page that clearly explains whatās included in the paid version versus the free version? From what I see, subscribing mostly seems to give you access to upload more documents, which is cool, but what else? What other features make the subscription worth it? Do you get access to longer documents? More voices? Right now, the text-to-speech option repeats text out loud and tops out at 1.5x speed, but Iād love to see it go up to 2x ā is that a paid feature?
Currently, the setup by looking at the interface makes it seem like I'd be upgrading just to process more images for comparison or to process more documents in the chat altogether. That doesn't really make much sense, especially if you're going to be using the same text to speech voices on the iPhone without any premium options.
I know that because of copyright and DRM restrictions, weāre not going to be able to read books directly on here, but it would be amazing to have some premium voicesāand of course, Iād be willing to pay extra, either as part of the subscription or as an add-on, for access to these voices for reading. Mostly, Iād use it for when I take online coursesāthere are tons of free courses I like to explore in my free time. Having a good, expressive voice to read the materials out loud would make a big difference because even though nonfiction or academic texts can be super interesting, they get pretty boring without some vocal flair. I totally get why we canāt just have full book reading because of copyright. I keep hoping that Kindle or Kobo will add premium voices, but so far, no luck. I also keep thinking that third-party access shouldnāt be too difficult if some clear restrictions are in place. Itās a pipe dream, but hereās what I imagine: when you subscribe to a book platform like Kindle Unlimited or Kobo Plus, the books you add to your library are accessible only while your subscription is active. So, if your app could let me log into my Kindle or Kobo account and then use your premium voices to read only the books I have in my library right now, that would be perfect.
Of course, Iād need an active subscription on those platforms, and to read a book, Iād first have to manually add it to my library through their official apps. Your app wouldnāt let me search the entire catalog or pick new booksāonly access the ones Iāve already got. Also, nothing would be downloaded or stored on my device; everything would happen in real time, streaming the text to speech. I wouldnāt be able to record or download the audio afterward, but Iād be able to skip chapters and control playback as needed. I totally understand why this kind of integration canāt happen, but I just needed to get that off my chest.
Are you going to add video descriptions? Also, similar to Be My Eyes, the text tends to cut off when dealing with longer descriptions, so I have to keep typing "go on" or "continue" for it to move the description along. I prefer to read the description, but you might want to look into, I don't know, maybe having an option for people who want to listen to the description, or maybe have some voices where the descriptions can be spoken out loud, as well as a conversation interface where we're able to turn on the microphone and speak directly to the AI to get the description that way for people who want a more hands-free experience. When uploading and scanning a file, after I've scanned or uploaded it, how do I delete the file? I don't seem to see anywhere to do that. There's also a bit of empty spacing in that little menu where you go into the file history, so yeah, that's something you might also want to look into.
Sometimes, I need help with tasks on screen, and Iām wondering if it would be possible for you to add a screen sharing featureāwhere I could share my screen with the AI and get guidance in real time. One idea Iāve been wanting for a while is a more streamlined captcha mode. To be clear, Iām not asking for the app to complete CAPTCHAs for us, but sometimes I have to type letters into a box and need that info right away. Basically, what Iād love is a feature designed for CAPTCHAs where I snap a photo, and it gives me the letters and numbers from the CAPTCHA itselfāwithout all the extra background info or detailed descriptions. It would be great if it could cut out the preliminary filler, like āHereās the photoā or āLet me describe this image,ā and jump straight to the CAPTCHA text. That way, itās easier for me to copy and paste it into my notes, especially since many platforms donāt allow copy-pasting directly to the CAPTCHA box for privacy reasons. Would it be possible to have an option in the settings for when documents are read aloud? Right now, the app tells me which page Iām on as it reads, and thatās great for knowing where I am, But sometimes, I want the reading to flow smoothly without hearing the page numbers announced. Since the pages are usually pretty short when converted, I donāt always need to hear the page number as part of the reading. It would be helpful if I could turn this feature on or off as needed, along with describing images in the text.
I donāt want to come across as harsh or critical because thatās never my intentionāyou truly have a pretty good application here. While we do have similar apps, you bring a unique take on the features and what youāre offering, which I appreciate. I love having options, and thatās one of the things I adore about this community: thereās always creativity and innovation happening, with people willing to push the boundaries of what we already have. You have a decent app here, and I know developing it is a journey. Iām always willing to pop in and share feedback or let you know whatās happening from my perspective. Competition is healthy and innovation is what drives progress. Itās always good to have backups in case one app isnāt quite right. Of course, if you ever need me to clarify anything, reach outāIād be happy to assist. Best of luck with your future endeavors!
Norwegian descriptions
Great app!
I'd love to test this app out more in daily use, but I find that I mostly end up using similar apps that offer Norwegian, my native language, as an option for image descriptions.
Would it be possible to add Norwegian to the list of available languages?
I also notice that no Scandinavian languages are currently available, so I imagine many people would appreciate it if you could add Swedish and Danish as well.
But of course, being a bit selfish, it's Norwegian that's highest on my own wish list! š
