Microsoft teams

Has anyone used Microsoft teams? Of course they are using a platform I haven't tried yet. I've downloaded it and am hoping i don't have to say appologetically, "I'm sorry, technology is being fun today." Also has anyone called into a conference number and used an Id? Do I just hope it works with the keypad and voice over? Thanks for any help.

One thing to keep an eye on when using Safari is that sometimes it seems that sending messages breaks. I've had a few occasions where I have thought I had sent a message, and was getting annoyed about the lack of reply, but when I checked my message wasn't there. When I try sending another one it says "Sending" but does not follow it up with "Sent". If I refresh then it fixes itself. I've had this happen a few times.

Not sure if the same thing happens in Chrome.

hey all,
have been using teams for a week now and I still cannot figure out how to actually answer an incoming call using VoiceOver.
The notification window comes up, I make my way to it, I attempt to hit the answer with audio button but VoiceOver seems to think that the dismiss call button is default so it will constantly hang up.
I cannot use the enter key to answer or space, VO space just hits the default button which dismisses the call.
I have also tried the commands from the instructions about answering calls with no result.
Any ideas?

As far as I can tell, you have to use the keyboard shortcuts. I can't find any way of giving the answer buttons focus on their own. I hate this because I sometimes forget what they are, or fumble and press the wrong thing. The other day I couldn't remember the shortcut and miraculously got on the call. Only later did someone tell me I'd been on video whereas everyone else was on audio and I hadn't realised.

Have a look at the keyboard shortcuts - https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/office/keyboard-shortcuts-for-microsoft-teams-2e8e2a70-e8d8-4a19-949b-4c36dd5292d2#picktab=macos

They are different for web and the app.

On the web, you press Cmd+Shift+A for video call, Cmd+Shift+S for audio only.

On the app they are Cmd+Shift+V for video and Cmd+Shift+A for audio.

I hate that the shortcut for answering with audio on the app is the same as answer with video on the web.

Does anybody use Teams with DuckDuckGo on an iPhone or Firefox on Windows? Just curious.

Thanks so much for your advice mr grieves.
The shortcut to actually answer the call does not work when it is ringing.
It doesn't even matter if you make your way to that window where the answer options are, the shortcut just never works.
It's kind of a big deal because you can't even answer a damn call.

I have certainly had that moment of total panic when it is just ringing and ringing and I can't figure out how to answer it.

I started out using the full app but it has some showstoppers for me so I created a Safari app (ie share to dock) using the web site. I find this works a bit better even if it is still a long way from frustration free.

In the web version I don't have a problem answering calls as long as I remember which key to press!

In the main app I've had all sorts of issues to do with focus - either the app grabbing focus from other apps, or vice versa. I also had some issues with hanging up calls - if I had gone to the conversations list when on a call, or if I used my VO keyboard shortcut to jump to the teams app, then I'd not be able to use it - I'd have to go into the Window menu and select the other window if I remember right.

If you are using the main app I would try the web one and see if you get on better with it. It might also work better in Chrome but I personally just like having the app separated from everything else given how much I use it.

Does Mac OS have anything similar to magic-tap?
That might work to answer call, although video/audio, that not sure.

If you have trackpad commands enabled, then you can do the normal two finger double tap on the trackpad. It doesn't look like there is another way to do this, but you can assign commands to it through VO Utility (at least on Sequoia).

I've no idea if this helps here, but it is a good suggestion and might be worth a try.

I just tab to find the buttons or find call with vo-f. Never used the shortcuts even on windows.

Too bad we can't just tell Siri, on macOS, to answer that, when a Microsoft Teams call comes in.

So here I am, having installed Teams on my iPhone while still keeping Skype for the remainder of this month. Opening Teams, I wanted to contact a friend but can't figure out yet how to send a note in a thread (conversation) as I have done so seamlessly in Skype. Am I missing something or misunderstanding the concept of Teams? I don't want to send an SMS. Accepting conference calls went smoothly.
I should also say that, for me a newcomer to Teams, Signal and WhatsApp are much easier to grasp than Teams.

On Mac, I haven't installed on the phone yet, when it said all of my Skype contacts were imported, there's a Skype button or such. So I have two things, "teams" and "Skype". Teams has some contacts from Skype, but they're just the contacts with phone numbers associated with them. In order to get to the whole set of Skype users, I had to hit the button for Skype. Once you do that it should stay there until you change it.

No, I have a single account. The transfer of contacts and conversations from Skype to Teams happened rather slowly and only after I uninstalled and reinstalled Teams. I guess I will keep trying and "playing" with it. It won't be my primary messenger.

I'm having a few issues with the web app.

Firstly, it is really, really unhappy that I removed camera access. I don't use video chat with it, so after i accidentally started a video call without knowing it I thought I would revoke access. So if I start or join an audio call it now tells me I must give access to the camera, if I cancel that I get another dialog and have to click a button where I accept my call with have no audio or video. Once I click that, I'm then in and the call starts normally. Although sometimes I've found I can't hear the other person and need to disconnect and reconnect which has happened a few times.

I also find that sometimes I send a message and it just doesn't get through. Today I had sent a number of messages, but when I looked none of them were marked as Sent and then they all disappeared.

And then sometimes I find myself fighting just to get the focus where I want it. For example, Ctrl+Shift+2 usually goes to the chat list, but not always. And then you have to do the hokey kokey or refresh or whatever to get back control.

Anyway it's making me even grumpier than I was already this morning.

Maybe this is a good update with 15.4 but I noticed that on chrome I can now see the typing indicator while being in my usual announce groups mode, the cursor doesn't become crazy and scroll me 40 messages behind. I don't need to switch between activities for that now. Or it's just the same chromium update that fixed the clickable announcements.

I'm using the app, not the website, on Mac of course.

1. Is there an easier way to read through messages than VO-left/right? You have to go through extra stuff that way.

2. Is there a way/an easy way to select and copy a bunch of messages, e.g. if you want to paste them somewhere else like an email?

Basically I can read through messages easily enough, but I don't know what else you can do to manipulate them, and I'd like to copy a chunk and send them to people.

I'm still trying to figure out how to answer a call on the mac using the app with VO.
I've still had no luck, I have to be the one to call people.
The web version is just as problematic, the sound is not as good on there for one thing and occasionally the shortcut to actually answer the call will work but you will still get the ringing sound in the background.
Few pretty serious problems there.

If you are in the compose text area and press Shift+Tab you should get into the list of messages. Then use up and down arrows to move through them. I believe if you press Cmd+C it will copy the current message to clipboard which works better than using the VoiceOver copy last phrase shortcut. I found on the app using VO shortcuts was extremely problematic and treating it like a Windows app worked a little better (ie tab, shift+tab, arrow keys plus the app specific keyboard shortcuts).

I'm not sure if there is a way to copy multiple messages in one go.
