Anybody know if screen recognition is broken? I'm on IOS 18.4 and on my phone and iPad when i use it it takes me to my status bar. Then I can't get out unless I go to the app switcher or close the app completely. Never did this before this update and it's doing it on every app I use it with.

Fine for me
Nope all works fine for me iPhone 15 pro.
thanks
thanks for your answer.
Still works fine for me
Screen recognition is also working fine for me. I'm using Iphone 15ProMax.
Try this
Try this. I know it sounds weird but some of the apps I use and have used with it on make me have to do this. And to be fair one of the apps I have to use explore by touch on they are going to be working on VO accessibility so this on this one app shouldn't be a problem soon but it is now. Try doing explore by touch with it on. Again never had this problem before until now. I'm on iPhone 15 Pro.
Download Data
Make sure you've visited the recognition settings at least once so that the data is downloaded. I expect you already did, but just in case you're in a state somehow where you've enabled the feature but the models aren't available.
Tried it
I had it on for a while already but yes. I went to settings and turned it off and back on again and let it download. I'm going to wait and see if it fixes anything.
So I learned something by accident.
If you have your screen curtain on, screen recognition will not work properly mostly. If you’re using screen recognition, make sure your screen curtain is turned off.
A little late to the party, but…
Screen recognition is working fine for me.
iOS 18.4, iPhone SE 2022.
I've encountered screen recognition issues many times
Hello, you're not alone because my friends and I often encounter issues with screen recognition, and the same goes for image descriptions. Sometimes turning off the relevant switch in settings, restarting the device, and then turning it back on can help, but most of the time, this doesn't work. Usually, after a few days or half a month, you might wake up one day to find the feature working normally again.
I have a guess, completely unfounded, just my speculation. iPhones periodically calibrate system configuration files from a cloud server, and these servers are distributed globally. The calibration files include those needed for screen recognition. If these files on the server are corrupted or incomplete, we can't use the screen recognition feature properly. The reason I think this is because when I can't use the feature, friends living nearby also face the same issue, regardless of device model or system version. Another reason supporting my guess is that sometimes VoiceOver changes the pronunciation of certain words, and this happens across all devices using the same language. By the way, I should add that I use Chinese, where many characters have multiple pronunciations, so VoiceOver often mispronounces many words, and they periodically make adjustments.
If you're puzzled by this issue, you might want to ask your friends if they're experiencing the same problem. If they are, it's likely due to the reason I analyzed.
