The terrible issue with the Playback speed adjuster on YouTube is back

You folks remember the terrible issue with the playback speed adjuster on the YouTube iOS app, where we couldn’t even see the options and YouTube would often crash? Good news! It’s back. After getting used to the nice UI and forgetting about it, it just came back—and again, I have to use screen recognition to bypass it. I’m so tired of these companies not caring about millions of their disabled users when releasing updates, seriously; what even do these updates bring to the table?

We are talking about the speed of the video like 1x 2x or something like that right? There is no slider as far as I know. I just don't really understand what you're talking about. The track position slider works well for me as well. Sorry for misunderstanding :) .

On the video playback screen, tap “More Actions” in the top right corner, then tap “Playback xxx.” The only thing I can see on the screen is my current playback speed—there are no other options to change it unless I use screen recognition. This bug was present in a previous YouTube version a few months ago, but they fixed it. However, it seems to have just come back! It has nothing to do with the track position slider—that has always worked for me.

I don't see this bug. What version of YouTube are you using?

On 20.09.3 and no issue. In the UK on iOS18.4 beta 2 iPhone 15 pro.

In my opinion, these companies just release updates for the sake of releasing updates. I don't update unless they provide a compelling reason for me to do so, visible in the release notes themselves, and this is exactly why. Because things are liable to break, and I don't trust larger companies to fix them with any expediency.

Not seeing this at all either. Youtube 20.09.3, I'm on ios18.4 beta 2, iphone 14, youtube premium, Canada.

I do not have auto updates enabled for App Store. And only 10 to update, when an update is required. Probably how I avoided that Be My Eyes issue that happened several weeks back, where Be My AI was failing on image recognition.

I don't have access to the option of the timestamp in the share sheet even with screen Recognition, this is really annoying.

I totally agree with you and won't update any apps unless I see a significant update... But it will be challenging for me not to press the "Update All" button at once and forget about it. I'll have to read all those repetitive, cliché descriptions to spot a different update xdd.

I didn't even know that was offered in their mobile ios app as I was able to see it only on the desktop interface. Wow; they haven't made it accessible in all those months since it was introduced; crazy.

Interesting. I didn't have that issue with BME, and I download every update they push out because they make worthwhile changes.

I read the update descriptions for a select few apps that I know actually put effort into them. Apps like YouTube and the like I completely ignore whenever I go through my update list. As such I always have at least eight apps pending update.

I appreciate that this is about “community. “Now that you guys are aware of the issue, wouldn’t it be beneficial to just as a collective reach out to Google? I’m willing to lend a hand. As long as you’re willing to write out a template that I can follow. Maybe if we send enough messages, it’ll gain enough traction.

If you start with the comment I am linking below, on the official Be My Eyes thread, and work your way down, you'll see what I'm talking about. I think it was version 6.13 that was the problem. It has since been fixed, thankfully. ☺️

No it was perfectly accessible on ios too, now it doesn't seem to be. But I'm on the beta so *maybe*...
