App switcher on Apple Watch

watchOS and Apple Watch Apps

I am using the Apple Watch, SE2, and for the most part it is great. However, there is an app that seems to be having problems. It's the Dexcom G7 app. I have "direct to watch" turned on in the iPhone app, and the watch did pair with my sensor successfully. However, over the last day or so, it has started throwing up frequent alerts about how the connection was lost, so it goes back to pulling data from the phone. Really, it doesn't matter that it is the Dexcom app. It could have been any app really. The problem is, I wanted to go in to the app switcher to close said app, and then go in and open it again. The problem is that the app switcher won't stay in place long enough for me to actually do anything with it. It flips from the app switcher in to whatever I happen to be focused on, or one of the other apps in the list. It's driving me nuts, as I have tried it like 15 times, and each time, before I can find the Dexcom app, then flick up to get to close, it jumps back in to another open app before I can actually do anything. I have looked in settings to see if I could find anything that would cause the behavior, but nothing stands out. Hoping someone smarter than me, or at least more experienced, has figured out a way to solve this. Like I said, it really shouldn't matter which app it is. The app switcher should not behave like that.

go to settings / accessibility and turn off, auto focus select on app to off. If you nav by headings you should see app switcher and flick once right. I quite don't understand why apple even put this feature in there. It's totally not needed! More over, I don't get why apple decided it was a good idea to turn on this feature after updating to 11.3 by default.

Oh my goodness! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I'm normally pretty good with my tech, and with troubleshooting, but this one had me stumped. Would've had me pulling my hair out, if I hadn't already shaved it. lol

I just checked watch 9 and OS 11.3. My is off by default. Press crown 2 times and app switcher open. Slide up to remove.
