Hi all.
So i have Homebrew installed. I tried installing wine:
brew install cask --no-quarantine wine-stable
or whatever it was, I just copied it right off of winehq.org. Then I installed winetricks, again, copied right off the site. Then I wanted to install SAPI, so I could try running Ball Bouncer, which I apparently downloaded somehow or other. So I did winetricks apps install sapi or whatever the command was, again I just looked at the command help.
It looked like it was doing something for a bit, but then it just sat there and sat there. So I nuked the whole thing. Anybody got tips on running this? I know there are some other programs around, no I am not paying for Crossover or whatever it is. In case Ball Bouncer doesn't work with SAPI, I know A Hero's Call does, and I have that too. Also, I feel like I've seen some things about being able to run installers to install games into a Wine instance, so if anybody knows how that works, I'd love to do some of the Spoonbill games.
Seems pretty straightforward, get Wine or whatever version installed, get SAPI installed so that everything gets it by default, run whatever Windows thingy uses SAPI. Clearly I'm doing something wrong though. Oh also, I'm not running a VM unless somebody wants to buy me a Mac with more memory. That upgrade will happen at some point, but that point is not now. I'm only messing around with Wine because I know I have at least one game that will work with it.

I use Kegworks Winery. That…
I use Kegworks Winery. That seems to work and it allows you to install wine tricks. I'd suggest using chat GPT to install and get things working. It's how I worked out the issues I faced.
