No sound from Apple Watch, Help!

Apple Beta Releases

Hi everyone,

I woke up this morning to my alarm on my Apple Watch Series 8, running WatchOS 11.2 RC. When I came to stop the alarm, I could not at all hear Voiceover. Once I stopped it, I still heard no sound at all from my watch's speaker. I did feel haptics though, and those still function as expected.

Here's what I've tried to do to resolve the issue. None of these worked:

  • Two finger double-tap and hold, then flick up, to increase the voiceover volume.
  • Force-restart my watch by holding the digital crown and side button.
  • Via Applewatch Mirroring, check whether a Bluetooth sound device is connected. None are.

Does anyone have any other things I can try to troubleshoot this, or should I take the plunge and reset to factory defaults? I'd prefer not to do this, unless it's a last resort.

Thanks a lot!

Yeah this is a bug that has been reported here. Basically you wanna hold digital crown and ask Siri to increase media volume to 80% and you will hear Voiceover then. Hope this helps!

Thanks very much for your suggestion! I asked Siri to change my media volume, and now VO works as expected!

Unfortunately, this is a mayjour issue and has been reported to apple. The only workaround that our team has found for now is to hold the watch as close to your ear as you can to dismiss the alarm, if you can, find somewhere you can dictate something, such a text message. Once you have finished dictating, the volume usually comes back up/
