Description of App

This app allows to specify the upper and lower charge limit of the battery of the mac, i.e. below which percentage charging should start and above which it should stop. It is also possible to charge the battery at full capacity at any time and stop charging immediately even if the macbook is plugged. Only compatible with Apple Silicon Macs. It is also recommended to disable Optimized battery charging to avoid any conflict.

Accessibility Comments

This app is very accessible as it has a minimalistic interface, only a status menu tray with checkboxes in the menu, and a standard settings window with a toolbar, a few checkboxes and text fields.

Usability

The app is fully accessible with VoiceOver and is easy to navigate and use.

Other Comments

It is very confusing to remember the difference between Charge to full and Charge to maximum, but as a reference Charge to full will charge the battery at its full capacity and Charge to maximum will charge the battery at the upper limit that is specified in the settings of the app. You have to enter your password or Touch ID each time you manually select any of the two charging options yourself.

I'll add that you literally don't need to pay for any equivalent app once you've discovered this. Very accessible interface with voiceover and each time I can charge it to full when needed.

The Optimised Battery Charging will do the job.

It rarely works when you have random charging schedule and never for me. It just gives the same ability that we have on iphones 15 and above. I never could make optimized charging work reliably for me.

Thank you for posting this. I have a MacBook Air M1 that I primarily use for running 2 Broadcastify feeds, so it is always plugged in. I would love to be able to set the maximum charge limit to something like 55%, as I have read that something around there is an ideal limit for devices which are always plugged in.

I have a random charging schedule too, so optomized battery charging was hit or miss (mostly miss) for me.
