AppleVis Announces Community Blog Program

Do you have a passion for writing opinion content? Are you blind, DeafBlind, or do you have low vision? Do you want to share your authentic lived experiences using the Apple ecosystem with others in the community? If so, AppleVis may have just the opportunity for you.

As results began to come in for our 2024 Community Survey, it became apparent that there is much community interest in blog posts and written content in general. In the spirit of AppleVis, and our desire to continue growing and empowering the community, we are launching a program for members of our community to submit articles for possible publication to the AppleVis Blog.

The way in which this will work is somewhat similar to our process of submitting podcasts in that users can submit posts for consideration which will then be reviewed and, if approved, will be published on your behalf by the Editorial Team. If editing is necessary, we will work with authors prior to publication.

To submit a post for consideration, please login to the AppleVis website and complete the submission form. You can write in text, HTML, or Markdown. Before writing your post, please review our posting guidelines below.

We look forward to reviewing community blog posts and hope this will be the start of yet another space where people who are blind, DeafBlind, or who have low vision can have their voices heard and their words read.

Blog Post Submission Guidelines

  • All posts must relate directly to Apple products, first-or third-party applications on Apple platforms, or technologies used in conjunction with Apple products. Possible topic areas include:
    • Personal reviews of specific Apple products.
    • Evaluations of apps or app categories (productivity tools, music production, podcasting, etc.).
    • Comparisons of Apple products to other platforms (Android, Windows, etc.).
    • Any other topics surrounding accessibility on Apple platforms for people who are blind, DeafBlind, or who have low vision.
  • Posts must be your own original work. External sources may be used for background information (a quote from an industry expert, statistics, etc.). If external sources are used, they must be clearly and properly cited in the article with links to the source content.
  • Posts must be of sufficient length and detail for the topic being covered.
  • If you wish to write an article covering an Apple event or announcement, please reach out to our Editorial Team with your proposal in advance. These posts are usually handled in-house by our Editorial Team, and we need to ensure timely and robust coverage.
  • AI tools, such as ChatGPT or Apple Intelligence, may only be used for small edits (spell/grammar checking, better wording for a section, writing ideas, better organization, and so on). If your post appears to have been generated entirely or substantially by such tools, we reserve the right to decline it. All information in your post must be factually correct, or, in the case of opinions, be an opinion you personally hold. Any inaccuracies in your post introduced by AI tools are still your responsibility.
  • Please check spelling and grammar in your post before submitting it for consideration.
  • AppleVis does not accept sponsored posts or other types of product promotion. The purpose of the Community Blog program is to elevate the voices and authentic lived experiences of people who are blind, DeafBlind, or who have low vision. Sponsored posts undermine this mission.
  • All posts must follow our general community guidelines.
  • AppleVis reserves the right to decline to publish any post for any reason.

Blog Posts Which Do Not Meet AppleVis' Quality Assurance Guidelines

AppleVis is run by a small team of primarily volunteers, and processing blog submissions in a timely manner is just one of the many things we do. Thus, we have developed the below policy for working with blog submissions which do not meet the quality assurance guidelines set out above:

  • If a submitted blog post does not meet our quality assurance guidelines, it will not be accepted for publication to the AppleVis Blog. The author will be notified as to why the post was not accepted, and detailed feedback on how the post could be improved will be provided. If the author wishes to submit a second version of the blog post for review, they are welcome to do so.
  • If the second version of a blog post does not meet our quality assurance guidelines, it will not be accepted for publication to the AppleVis Blog. The author will be notified as to why the post was not accepted, and detailed feedback on how the post could be improved will be provided. If the author wishes to submit a third version of the blog post for review, they are welcome to do so.
  • If the third version of a blog post does not meet our quality assurance guidelines, it will not be accepted for publication to the AppleVis Blog. The author will be notified that the post was not accepted for publication; however, detailed feedback will not be provided, and no further submissions of the same blog post from the same author will be reviewed.
  • We will review up to three (3) versions of any one blog post.
  • Authors who submit a blog post which does not meet our quality assurance guidelines are welcome to submit different posts on other topics. Each blog post is reviewed on an individual basis, and we will review up to three versions of a blog post—even if an author's blog posts have not met our quality assurance guidelines in the past.
  • AppleVis reserves the wright to approve or reject any blog post for any reason.

For those who like writing, this is a nice place to express thoughts about your Apple. Will pass. Did not care for writing when I was in the university or at work. Have fun all.
