Two issues on my iphone since iOS18 with notifications and facebook

Hi everyone.

Since iOS 18 I have two horrible issues that have been not solved with the next updates, and although I know there are a lot more, this two are not negotiable for me.
First issue Notifications: is it just me or everyone has this trouble with app notifications, which vary from app to app but half of my apps don’t bring me notifications since iOS 18 no matter if they have updated their selves, and it worries me a lot because it affects important apps for me such as my bank app which keeps me uncertain as I can’t get the notification if a operation is done with my credit cards.
Please don’t as me if the settings of my notifications are activated , because of course they are. I already deactivated and activated once again the notification alert for those apps, in order to see if it makes a difference, but it didn’t.

Second Issue Facebook posting: This has to do with the keyboard and facebook. I don’t know why, but each time I try to make a new post (not a comment) I start dictating or writing or what ever my post, and if I try to move from word to word or letter by letter to correct any misspelled word or whatever, voiceover reads weird things and the writing cursor acts crazy. For example if my sentence was written like this “I’m happy with your dog”, and I want to change the word “your” for “my” and I in deed move to that part of the phrase and I erased the word your and enter my, the next time I read it out loud, voiceover would read “I’m happy with your my” and apparently the word “dog” was erased instead of the word your, but it happens with everything and therefore the cursor is never in the correct place or voiceover reads half of the words I wrote, and a lot of weird things.

Any one with this issues or my iphone 15 pro is crazy?

Yes, I experience this too.
I suggest to you to write your post on Notes app, and copy the post to an edit feeld on Facebook post.
write, make the changes and paste into an edit feeld on Facebook post.

yes that's what I have done, but it should not happen, because before iOS 18 everything was smooth with facebook and my notifications

Hi Karina,

I cannot speak on FaceBook, as I do not use it. However, there is a work-around for the notifications, but it requires a little effort on your part.

Do the following:
1. First Go into Siri settings, and enable Notifications there. This will allow Siri to read aloud your incoming notifications. You will have to 'enable' this for every single app you want Siri to notify you on, so please keep this in mind.
2. Go to VoiceOver settings, then Verbosity and just turn off notifications.

Now, this will not turn off notifications, just prevent VO from reading them aloud as they come in, and will also allow Siri to read aloud (in realtime) incoming notifications.

It is not a perfect solution, as you may occasionally get a notification come in that reads something like, "Application has a notification that I cannot read". it can happen now and then.

HTH. 😊

Brian, does your suggestion solves the problem even when the app shows no notification on my notification center? I mean,, for example, every time I buy pay something with my credit card, my bank app sends me a notification, but since iOS 18 there is no notification shown ever, so do you think it will help to bring my notifications back again?

I think the problem of RO not reading out when typing on Facebook has got more to do with Facebook's intelligent writing feature.

I would think so. As this is, "not", a VoiceOver feature, but rather a, "Siri", feature meant for sighted people as well as everyone else. 🙂

Of course, you could test this by setting it up exclusively to work for your bank notifications. Then whenever you trigger a notification via banking, such as making a purchase, etc, Siri should alert you of the bank notification.

For your own piece of mind though, do make sure you have notifications enabled for your banking app under the Notifications setting, inside the settings app. 😳
