I've been using downcast for a while but am thinking of getting a 1 tb IPhone next year,, I've selected the options to download all episodes, and keep all, but it doesn't seam to be doing it.

I have to tap on the podcast, then tap on view all episodes, then, tap on download all, then tap on the download all button again when it pops up, is there any way of making this easier on me?

Is there a web version of this, that is to say, a website? Downloading podcast episodes in bulk off of a website seems like it would be much faster, then you could later transfer those to your new iPhone.

Food for thought. 🙂

Howdy Brad. I'm a long time Downcast user. I've been using it since 2013 and I don't think their is another option that I can think of. I don't download my podcasts. I just stream them although I probably can download them now that I have a 128 GB iPhone 16. I'm going to redownload Downcast actually. Right now I'm suing the Podcasts app.

Oh well, I'll just have to do it that way if I want to download podcasts.

I also have been using Downcast for many years and have been extremely happy with its flexibility and eas of use.

I just tried downloading all episodes for a particular podcast as a test. It worked perfectly. Here are the steps:

1. Tap on the name of the podcast in the list.
2. Tap on"View All Episodes" (which you seem to have done).
3. Tap on the "Download All Episodes".

That did it for me.

Also you can go into the global settings or settings for each podcast to tell the app what to do when new episodes arrive, i.e., download latest, keep all or a specified number, etc.

Note: In the settings for a particular podcast, most of the settings have a "Obey Global Setting" option which will, as it says, obey the global setting. But if you want a different setting for a particular podcast, you can override the global setting for that option and specify something particular for each podcast.

Hope that helps.

Oh I know that but what I'd like is for the app to download all podcast episodes.

Let's say I have 3 podcasts, I'd like them all downloaded without me having to go into the settings and do all those extra steps.

I've written to the dev and hopefully wil get a response but for now, i think this is the only way to do it.

@Brad
Sorry for mis-understanding your question. Sounds like you want to download all episodes in several podcasts at once. You are correct, I don't think there is any way to do that.

Once you have subscribed to podcasts though, you can set up to automatically download all new episodes as they are posted for all podcasts. Just choose that option in the global settings and don't override that setting for the specific podcasts.

Probably the best thing to do is to download all episodes for a podcast when you are subscribing to the podcast. Once that is done you should be set.

Good luck and enjoy the app.

Don’t know if this helps what you’re looking for but go to Settings and the first menu is Autistic Feed Refreshing. The second is New Episodes Action. At the top there is a menu to open and select download all new. When you subscribe to a podcast you select it from your main menu and scroll down to view available episodes. At the bottom there is a download symbol in the middle of screen and that might download all current episodes. The rest that show up weekly or whatever should download atomically with your settings.

I have never actually tried it because I mark all for streaming in settings and hit the mark all for streaming with the icon at the bottom right of the available episodes after subscribing. It has been all automatic after that. Maybe downloading all will work the same way. I apologize if someone has already suggested this.
