battery drainage with iOS 18.1

I updated to iOS 18.1 on Tuesday, and since then, I noticed my phone gets hot very fast and the battery life is terrible. I don't go into battery settings too often -- I never really need to -- but when I checked to see what was causing this, under the insights and suggestions heading I did see that it says "update finishing in background." I saw this yesterday. It's still there.

I'm not sure how new the insights and suggestions feature is, but I have a friend who just did a software update and his isn't showing that. I'm not sure if it's a bug that's a case by case basis or what's going on.

I know that there are things that happen in the background after an update, but this just seems kind of excessive. I called Appple and they said there's no set amount of time and not to be concerned about it, but my battery only lasts like 5 hours before I have to charge it.

Is anyone else experiencing this?
