notification sounds not always playing in ios 18

Hello everyone. I have not yet updated to ios 18 because I have heard about an issue where you are not always notified right away of messages and other notifications. I in fact have this problem with ios 17. Sometimes I'll receive a message, but I will not be notified about it until like ten minutes later. While exploring the ios 18 posts on here, I have found no one else experiencing this problem: or, at least, it hasn't been mentioned as far as I've been able to tell. All I've seen about notifications is if they're displaying in a stack or not. But I'm wondering. Has anyone found a work-around or experienced the issue of not being notified right away about messages or other notifications? And if so, what did you do about it?

One of our team reported experiencing this issue in iOS 18. We weren't sure if it was a VoiceOver-specific issue, so we didn't list it as a bug on the site's Bug Tracker or. However, we did note it in our iOS 18 Accessibility Issues and Fixes post:

While we are unsure if this is specifically related to the use of VoiceOver, one of our team reports that sounds do not play consistently when a notification is received. A Feedback report has been submitted regarding this issue. Even if the issue is unrelated to VoiceOver, we mention it here as sounds play a critical role in the user experience for many blind or visually impaired users.
