I used to have a second-gen iPhone SE. It worked great, except it had developed one very annoying problem. When I asked SIRI, “What’s the weather?” it would emit the thinking tone for a few seconds, and then respond “I’m having trouble with the connection. Please try again later.” I would immediately ask for the weather again, and SIRI would immediately give me the weather. This problem happened while connected to wifi with full signal strength. It was always the weather, and it was always able to provide the weather on the second try.
Earlier this year, I traded in my iPhone SE and upgraded to an iPhone 15. With great joy, I discovered SIRI’s weather ignorance had vanished. If I asked about the weather, SIRI provided that information on the first try. Right out of the gate. Wonderful.
In June, I installed the iOS 18 beta. Again, SIRI always knew the answer, always told me the temperature. Great.
But, last month, I installed the public release of iOS 18.0. And suddenly, the SIRI weather problem came back. It’s the exact same behavior I used to see on my second-gen iPhone SE. I ask for the weather, and SIRI tells me it can’t connect. I immediately ask again, and SIRI gives me the weather.
I have no idea what I might have done to trigger this issue other than upgrade from the iOS 18 beta to the public release. I think it’s worth noting that iOS 17 worked fine on the same iPhone, and every single beta release of iOS 18 also worked fine.
Is anyone seeing anything remotely similar? If so, have you found a fix? I’d love to make this go away and never come back.
It might be a moot point. I’m upgrading to an iPhone 16 in the next week. I’ll post here with the results of that upgrade.

Upgraded
I upgraded to a new iPhone 16 today, and the problem with SIRI and the weather is gone. For now.
Hey Paul
I, too, used to have an iPhone SE 2nd GEN. I now have an iPhone SE 3rd GEN, after my 15 Pro debacle, but much like Fight Club, we won’t talk about “that”. Having said all of that, I have never experienced this issue with weather. If I pull out my old SE2, and ask Siri the weather, Siri will tell me the weather. Same thing on my current SE3.
Just for clarification, the old SE is running iOS 17.4… Something, I believe. And the current SC is running 18.01.
For what it’s worth, I’m happy for you that your new iPhone seems to have resolved the issue. 🙂
It's a rare issue
I'm not surprised no one else is seeing this. It takes some tenacity, but there are discussion topics where a few people report similar behavior. [Here's one.](https://discussions.apple.com/thread/254498950?sortBy=rank) But the problem in that discussion seemed to do with location, whereas in my case, SIRI was complaining about the connection. But in both cases, everything was just fine on the second try.
