Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some advice on how to better manage heart rate zone tracking during my workouts using the Apple Watch. I rely on the audio cues to track which heart rate zone I’m in, but I find it difficult to know exactly which zone I’ve entered. While the watch does beep when I switch zones, it doesn’t tell me the specific zone I’m in, and it can be a bit challenging to swipe around to find that info in the middle of a workout.
Has anyone encountered this and found a good solution? I’m wondering if there are any settings, apps, or workarounds that offer better real-time feedback—like spoken updates when you enter a new zone or even customizable audio alerts. Any advice or recommendations would be much appreciated!
Thanks!

Not me but
Hi there.
What I do is to program an interval trainig and there for yes you could fix a certain zone for each one, or another way is to prestablesh a frequency zone for your trainings in the personalize settings at the bottom of your trainings, and for example if you want to know if you are either in your zones 3, 4 or 5, stableshe your personalized zone in the fourth one, therefore if your watch tells you "over the zone" it means you are already in the fifth, but if it says "under the zone" it means you are still in the third one, and if it says "inside the zone" you are in the forth one. That way you could have a better understanding of your zones.
another suggestion, in order to have voiceover reading outloud your frequency zones you need to turn off voiceover during your tranings, it is a mess but you need to do so in order to have information while training, without touching your screen. At least for me it works because I run and it tells me when I finish a kilometer, how fast I ran it and my frequency zones, also it tells me when I have finished my training as I programmed it. It also tells you what interval is next and the metric of the last one.
Very helpful
Thank you thank you thank you I've been trying to figure out a way to do this for a long time I haven't use the Apple Watch in a year or two so possibly this is a new option. This is exactly what I'm looking for thank you for the detailed comment
I will try it out tomorrow I have already set it up
Have to turn voiceover off when preference is set??
Must I turn off voiceover to receive the notifications from my Apple Watch during a workout? I set my preferences in rowing to alert me when it's in zone two. I will experiment but it would be handy if anyone knows.
Monitoring heart rate and zone while exercising
I started using the Echo Heart Rate app for monitoring my heart rate and heart rate zone while exercising.
using the app, you can ask Siri to speak back your heart rate or heart rate zone at any time. Voiceover will also announce your heart rate zone each time it changes.
The developer was kind enough to make these shortcuts give spoken feedback and it is a great way to monitor your heart rate and heart rate zone at will.
Oh yes, you can even choose a particular heart rate zone model or define a custom set of zones.
If you want to learn more go to the Eyes On Success web site at:
www.EyesOnSuccess.net
and enter "echo heart rate" in the search field. This will bring up a summary of the episode along with links to the audio and show notes.
Enjoy.

Thank you, I did enjoy
Wow that is a nifty app. Thanks so much for the comment and getting me to check that out. I listened to the podcast and downloaded the app to my phone as well as my watch. I look forward to them implementing the option to have your heart rate periodically announced to you. I'm going to try this app for some of my work out tomorrow and see if it's worth purchasing the pro version so I can do more than 20 minutes because I'll definitely need that if I find this suits my needs.
