Pause/Resume reading using a Bluetooth Keyboard

Before iOS 7 I was able to press the Control key on the keyboard to pause reading and pressing it again would resume reading where it left off. Now it doesn’t work. Does anyone know what key or key combination does this now?

I can confirm that pressing the Control key no longer pauses/resumes VoiceOver's reading, but I think this is an iOS 7 bug. The User Guides for iOS 7 all continue to list the Control key for this function under the VoiceOver keyboard shortcuts, but this hasn't worked for me in any of the iOS 7 upgrades using a paired Apple wireless keyboard. I also find that in a few third party apps that I'm not able to initiate typing within text boxes with the keyboard, although I can use the on-screen keyboard. This is with Quick Nav off, even though VoiceOver announces insertion point at start and insertion point at end. This is only an issue under iOS 7, and forgetting or repairing the keyboard, restarting the device, etc. does not solve the problems. Behavior remains as expected under iOS 6.

By the way, because of the more frequent use in iOS 7 of keyboard combinations like Option+Up arrow to launch Spotlight search, and Option+Up Arrow to access the notification center or Option+Down arrow to access the control center (after navigating to the status bar with VO+m), I find myself using the right Option key in this combination more frequently.  but I think I still get more reliable results pressing the left Option key + arrow keys -- something about not typing too fast for the keyboard shortcut commands to best take effect.
