unable to change battery on airtag

Has anyone had luck on changing your airtag batteries? They say you are suppose to hold down the back and twist counter clockwise. I've tried this with 2 thumbs as well as a rubber jar opener as suggested by apple support with no luck. I don't understand why apple did not make their battery backs with a coin slot, I guess that would have been too simple. I could probably have one drilled but not sure if that will mess things up.

I can't figure out how to get it out of my keychain holder. Otherwise, they're pretty easy to take apart.

I changed the batteries on AirTags.
I twist the back of the AirTag counterclockwise by holding the back where the edges are, and twisting it.
It comes off easily for me.
You need a 2032C watch battery.

When you put it in, it makes a small Sound.

Here is more information from Apples website.

The way I do it is, I hold the airtag between my index and thumb, on the wider plastic part. The panel, which feels a bit more metallic, should be facing outwards, that is, if you touch the airtag with your right hand, you should feel the metal panel first. Then, I put two fingers on the panel, press gently down a bit, then, the best way I can describe the twist to open it? the gesture, the two finger counterclockwise you do to go to the previous rotor? Do that with only the two fingers pressing gently down on the metal panel. Sorry I cant explain it better, but its a bit tough to explain something like this, but hope it helps.
To the person saying they have trouble taking it out of the keychain, which keychain are you using? If its the one which comes in 2 parts which go above and below the airtag made of plastic, that you put the airtag between the two pieces and then close the keychain by twisting the 2 pieces so that the hole for the ring on both parts aline, I have those as well, I can try to give you a hand. If it’s that keychain. Hold it so that the metal panel is facing down. Hold it with one finger, thumb, on the top ring, and your index finger on the bottom ring. Now, push your index clockwise, while keeping your thumb pushing in a counterclockwise direction, that'll separate both rings so that if you keep turning it, both pieces will separate from each other and you'll be able to take the airtag out once both pieces are separated.
As far as knowing if the battery is facing the right way... you'll know when the airtag makes a slite noise, it sounds like a chirp, sort of.

If holding with 2 fingers proves tricky, put the airtag on the palm of your left hand with the metal panel facing up, then put 2 fingers on the panel and do the counterclockwise rotor gesture.

I changed the battery in my air tag about a month ago with no problem.
