While the majority of my audiobooks come from my audible subscription, I do have a library of MP3 audiobooks as well. I know I can use iBooks, but that involves goin into iTunes on my PC which is doable, but cumbersome. Currently I'm using VLC and grabbing things from Dropbox. I find that VLC is surprisingly not that accessible however, particularly for rewinding and fastforwarding. So I'm wondering what other good alternatives others are using?

Still using VDR
I'm still using VDR. I tried to go cold turkey and use Bookplayer, but my problem with bookplayer is it's a total battery hog, and also, I have to combine each book into a volume. But it is totally free, so I would highly recommend it. I have my stuff so deeply integrated into VDR, I'm having trouble giving it up.
I like this app
I've been using Book Player for a while, and I like it. I can give id audio files or zipped folders from my Files app, and it handles things just fine. It plays all the items in zipped folders in turn, just as it should. Importing books isn't the best, but it's very doable, and the app is accessible and free.
BookPlayer
I use BookPlayer exclusively for listening to audiobooks in mp3 format. The feature that attracts me to BookPlayer is the support for remote control. I've configured my airPods such that a double-tap on my right airPod plays and pauses while a double-tap on my left airPod rewinds by the interval specified by the app. BookPlayer along with Audible and Libby support this feature and I depend on it.
Book Player is it!
I'm not sure what VDR is, but I've tried book player and like it much more than VLC. ALl I need to do is put my book on a thumb drive and copy it to my iPhone. Thanks for the recommendation.
VDR and bookplayer
VDR is Voice Dream Reader I think. And I use bookplayer too. Bookplayer is easy to use. I tried some other media players just for playing mp3s in general, and they either weren't as accessible or I just didn't like them. I tried VLC and couldn't really get into it.

Okay. THat makes sense. I have that one as well, but have never used it to play audiobooks before. I'm happy with Book Player though, so will stick with that. I can't believe just how inaccessible VLC is. There isn't even a dedicated rewind/fast forward button unless you turn off voiceover. THen you can swipe left or right.
