Apple Beta Releases

Apple has now released iOS 18 beta 2.
Please let us know how it runs for you, so far for me-
VoiceOver has not cut out at all.
Feels more snappy on 15 pro max.
VO becomes totally unresponsive when attempting to customise lock screen.
RCS appears to also be available, although I'm not sure if it’s network or country dependent. Didn't see it on 15 pro max or 12 pro max both on different UK networks

Your Feedback is Important to Improving Accessibility on Apple platforms

Don't assume that Apple is aware of a bug or that your report won't make a difference - submitting bug reports directly to the company helps them reproduce and resolve the issue faster. Your report may provide crucial information. The more reports they receive, the higher the priority they give to fixing the bug.

If you're using a beta version, use the Feedback Assistant on your device to submit feedback and bug reports. If you're using a public release, follow the instructions on this page.

After the update was installed, I went into VoiceOver speech settings, and the whole entire Settings app crashed. The second time I went into speech settings, the same thing happened. 30 seconds later, the issue was gone and has never returned since.

I had always used SIRI American voice 4. After updating to beta 2, SIRI was using SIRI American Voice 5. Yet there was no mention of changing the SIRI voice under the SIRI category of the release notes.

To install this iOS on my primary phone?a

By Holger Fiallo on Monday, June 24, 2024 - 07:04

From what I am listening in Youtube, the answer is no one recommend that you install in a primary phone. If I was you wait for beta 4 to start playing with it.

I use my phone for transportation and payment, like a lot of people do. I don't think it's worth the risk.

I am agreeing more and more to the opinion that says, if you have to ask if you should install the beta or not, the answer will always be no. Only you can say yes to installing it. But whatever you do, it's your own decision that counts. People can say no to installing it, but if you still choose to proceed, you're taking matters into your own hands.

I have it on my main device but am also aware that I might have to restore should the next beta break something important. I'm also aware that the important thing that is broken might not be discovered until I actually need it..

If you don't tend to venture out much or spend time with others most of the time, then, fine, risk it but, if you are independent and live alone, as I do, it's worth being very mindful of what you are doing. I have factored phone failure into my life.

I have installed on my main device, being fully aware of the risks, and also fully aware I can simply restore back.
Yes, I use my phone for a lot of things as well, which is why test devices go a long way to making that final decision. After joining on beta 1, I have stuck with it. Should it go wrong, I'll restore.
If you have no testing devices and make that jump, please make sure you know what you're doing first. If you have any doubts then you should really be holding off.
Phone failure is a real factor in adult life, and I, like Ollie believe it should be factored into your decision.

If all you have is a main device to do beta testing with, then it's your choice. Be sure to send in feedback, because feedback is very helpful. The more feedback apple receives, the more quickly it gets resolved. HTH.

Just saw video from youtube that RCS is working. Works with Verizon, ATT and T mobile. Looks nice, someone test it with VO please. Only have a main phone.
