Double-tapping the far edges of your phone to enter braille screen input

Apple Beta Releases

Hello all,

This might be a weird question, but how do you perform the double-tap gesture to get braille screen input to activate? I feel when you double-tap the far edges of the screen, the magic tap gesture is performed instead of activating braille screen input, so I'm a little confused about this one.

For me, when I want to perform this gesture, I rotate my phone into landscape orientation, place one finger on my left hand near the top of the device, place one finger on my right hand near the bottom, and then double-tap with both fingers.

I don't think the description is very good, it's, as Tiler says, more like a double tap of a single finger on either side of the screen.

It is also possible to change this shortcut, I've changed the BSC (brail screen commander) to a single single tap on either side of the screen and a double tap for the brail keyboard.

I will send in some feedback as it took me a while to work out just what they meant.

Place one finger on the bottom right and another on the top left of your screen and do a one finger doubletap with both hands.
It has to work. It always does for me. Hope that helps.

I just tap the top at 1 corner, while tapping the other bottom. Just do it as a magic tap, but with a lot of space between the fingers.

I just do it like I'm Brailling the letter C. I do it twice quickly and it works every time for me. It is so much better than having Braille Screen Input in the rotor. Braille Screen Input is so much more reliable now. The description could be made a little clearer I think, but other than that, it's fine.

Have they changed the screen, so that when you type with Braille Screen Input, it doesn't display what you're typing for all the world to see?
I never understood what benefit Apple thinks there is to having letters appear on the screen with the phone in the away position.

It's an option, I believe, under Brail Screen Input in brail settings in voiceover, to turn it off.
