Remote for iOS.

Hi all.

I'm looking for a remote for iOS. There are a couple in the hardware reviews, but they all seem to not exist anymore. Mostly what I want it for is to have media control. However if possible I'd like more finer grained controls than typical headphones. Right now I'm using Shokz, and having to hit the button twice to go forward and thrice to go back is kind of annoying, Esp. given the application I want to use the remote for.

Basically, I'm using the iPhone to learn musical stuff, sometimes through Bard, sometimes through another app, sometimes through Audible. So what I'd like is something that would do a rewind, or maybe something that I could set to a location, i.e. if I get to the rewind button or whatever it's called on the screen and then don't touch it, Voiceover will maintain focus, and hitting a button on the remote will just trigger that button.

Obviously I can do this by touching the screen, but that can be tricky to hit just the right place. I'm trying to minimize that because it can be fiddly enough to get away from the instrument, go back, and get ready on the instrument again to do the thing you were trying to do. So I'm thinking some sort of physical button(s) might help with this. I figure this is pretty close to manipulating books or other media that somebody's doing it, so I thought I'd ask for recommendations. Thanks in advance for any help!

SATECHI R2 Bluetooth Multimedia Remote Control is probably what you're looking for.

Note: it has two modes, one is the media mode, back and forward, pause etc, and the other is a navigation mode which can work with voiceover with a bit of a work around by switching on full keyboard access in accessibility but then changing confirm to enter, as the middle button is an enter button.

If you get it and need a hand though, just drop me a line.

I have a remote control for my iPad, it has a dongle with USB Type C and a remote control with qwerty keyboard. It is handy when I am far from my iPad and need to enter text or do media controls. It is generic device, that is it has no brand whatsoever. Got it for something around $9. It also has a gyroscope and an internal microphone.

is it accessible to play and pause music on a gigg or something?

I think it works by simulating the instructions sent by headphones so it should work the same way.

The Satechi that is. SO we'll see how it goes. Where am I changing confirm to enter? I turned on full keyboard access already.

So I changed "activate" from space to return, and now when I'm in the other mode, I can manipulate Voiceover. The one thing that doesn't seem to work is play/pause in the media mode. It makes the sound you get when you're at the edge of the screen with Voiceover, e.g. on the home screen if you're at the app on the top left and swipe left. This seems to be something involving VO, because if I turn VO off, it plays and pauses just fine. So if anybody has any ideas, I'd love them.
