Hi everyone, hope you're doing well and staying safe. i'm running the latest version of macOS Sonoma on an M2 14 inch MacBook Pro. I have a TS3 plus hub which I've used to connect hard drives to the laptop. The cable connecting the hub to the laptop was too short, so I decided to try a longer USB cable. But one I've plugged the cable back in none of the hard drives that are currently attached to the hub show up on the Mac at all. Please can anybody advise me as to what the issue might be and how to resolve it? would i need to use data recovery software to resolv the issue? if so what software would people recomend? thanks for your advice everyone.

Do the drives show up in Disk Utility? If so, you can try mounting them from there, or run first aid to see if there are problems with the drives themselves. If the drives don't show up, the problem may be with the hub or cable you're connecting with, especially if they show up when connecting with the old cable.

If it worked with the old cable, I'd stick with the old cable. If it works well with the mnew cable when the hub isn't involved, avoid using the hub.

IF it works, perhaps you could go to a computer shop and ask them if they can help get a cable like that but longer?

Make sure nothing is on the cable that could bend it, I had to order a new pair of headphones because I'd bent the old cable by putting stuff on it, I actually ended up throwing away the new headphones and using the new whire and it worked with the old headphones.
