Can 11Labs voices be used as default Voiceover voice on IOS

11Labs has some really cool voices in their voice library which to my ears sounds lot more appealing than the out-of-box voices in IOS under Accessibility-> voiceover-> speech-> voice. Is there any way to set user selected 11labs voice be the default Voiceover voice on IOS? If so what are the steps please? Thx!

i think the app is just to read content with, and nothing else.

nope, unfortunately not.

The new IOS app is good. Try it out.

But no, 11 labs requires a great deal of processing. It's more like creating an mp3 than live low latency voicing. There may be something in the future that knows we are reading a longer document and can then process it in a sort of 'reading mode' but to navigate the OS, it would be rubbish.

Same, it's a little clunky still, the magic tap doesn't pause reading, but it's very cool. I'm trying to find a way of getting it to read my kindle books through the web but not having much luck. I can of course download from RNIB or source books from a more nefarious source, but kindle intagration, for me, would be killer.

I would be down for true Kindle support. 👍🙂

Are the extra voices you have in your account available on the app? I was wondering about that and you seem best positioned to answer.

Speechify, a mess of a competitor to 11labs, avoid, has a janky way of doing kindle book. It uses the kindle cloud reader. Maybe 11labs will do something similar, though I'd not hold your breath. Just because we want it its not true that everyone else does.

the catch 22 is, of course, if i want a book read out to me it's probably not available as an audio book and is therefore not very popular, which means legal places, such as RNIB reading library and book share probably don't have it, and torrents are not to be relied on. I might have to look into breaking DRM on my kindle books. Absolutely no problem with paying for books, I'm an author, I need to set an example, but I also need to be able to read it in my preferred way.

I’m using ElevenLabs to read a Mary Shelley book, The Last Man, that isn’t an audiobook. I found it on Project Gutenberg. The Daniel voice is very good for this. I’m surprised with the quality. Elevenlabs has a ways to go with the very new app to make it better but it’s I’m impressed so far. It did have some glitches with a pasted news story this morning but not with other stories. Alexa is still best reading a Kindle book but for some books a male voice makes more sense like the book I’m listening to now.
