So, I played Forza Motorsports for the first time late last night. I was pleasantly surprised with the large amount of accessibility options for the blind, and I do mean a lot. I was happy that my PC could handle it, especially with the extra features running in the background such as audio descriptions for cutscenes, an incredibly detailed TTS engine and all of the extra audio and haptic settings.
This game kind of reminds me of the old Gran Turismo games for the old PSOne and PS2, back in the day. There is everything from engine and tire damage, to collision physics and how your car handles after an impact. I also like the way they implemented an assistant who guides you through upcoming turns and/or hazardous conditions, etc.
So, gushing aside, I have a question for anyone who uses a gaming headset for a console; can those be paired with the PC and the console at the same time? Because, while this game is pretty amazing with the audio, and my laptop has decent sound, nothing beats a gaming headset. β

I'm confused.
If the game is on your pc, why would you need to know if the headphones can be paired with a console and pc?
The gaming headset I have has a whire so can only be plugged into one thing at a time.
I'd look on amazon for bluetooth headsets that can pair to more than one device. Here's one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/soundcore-Headphones-Lightweight-Comfortable-Connectivity-Black/dp/B0CD1FHLMH/ref=sr_1_4?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.sYcTNwUffcmHvscwOFT3VEfNKIvdXEJcB5_LByeDlvJmJhInCtvxCCrZo5tMQpBrIav3qsxIZlSHvtJ7WvwE9hemBMO3W3YxYUjJKPPPjG9DIyMa3TVB1YzowKTTkt7QfCeO_lYkIRQlggeZMbSKVDl_tk0sFSPmTCs5Kt0SRXtMAezit4tNF4u8BZEVcR9HIYpTU8LWYMdOyI2c2TDdjHhBXVhISFHDQ0zfM3pFajM.szVIs-BzziVOhUa6iIVjlpbLr5Oxi_FqBoHkx4090UY&dib_tag=se&keywords=multipoint%2Bbluetooth%2Bheadset&qid=1716155287&sr=8-4&th=1

The headset I have is for my Xbox, I was just asking if I could pair it to my PC also. It is wireless. Of course I could simply pick up a wired headset for PCs, but I figured if I could use my Xbox headset then, why not?
As for why I would want them paired to both, it is because I would rather not have to re-pair the devices between the PC and the Xbox every time I want to play a game on either, or. βΉ
Ah ok.
That headset can do that, you want to look for multy paring headsets.
Fair enough

May I ask, why aren't youβ¦
May I ask, why aren't you playing it on your xbox? I've got one specifically for this as a windows machine to run such games was out of my admittedly short finantial reach.
Regarding head sets, it's a real pain but there seems to be a split of where they can be used. I'd suggest a wired headset, an open back if possible, logitech do one which is very good, you'll have to research it, but it avoids all the issues with the 'made for xbox' thing. You can then just plug it into your controller or PC.
As far as I've found, there is no wireless headset to rule them all. I've been looking. I bought some bluetooth Grado open backs in the end I can just jack into my controller for PS5 and XBox for just this reason.
Xbox vs PC
Hey there Ollie,
Fact is, I have an older model Xbox, and a brand new HP laptop now that I am doing the school thing again; working on certs through Cisco Networks.
Anywho, the PC came with a month of GamePass Ultimate and so, because I was curious, decided to see what it could handle.
So far Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate and Forza Motorsports run really well. I get an added benefit with MK 11, in that NVDA's ocr works fairly well on a lot of the menus/screens, whereas the ingame voice guidance does not.
Sadly, Killer Instinct Anniversary Edition (formerly Definitive Edition) struggles.
Too bad Mortal Kombat 1 is not part of GamePass or I would likely disappear for a few months. π

I will also keep an eye out on the suggested headset you mentioned above. Sounds like that is my best choice at this point. π€·

For gaming at least, I think sticking to wired is the best call. You get more bang for your buck, or pound for your pound as it may be.
And big up for the more education crew! I'd spend my life in education if I could afford it. Even looking at a PHD to avoid the stark harshness of the real world.
Prof. Ollie
I would have to agree. We may be "a pond apart", but it is a fundamental fact that no matter how much you can prove you know your stuff, getting a company to hire a blind person is like pulling teeth. . . with a pair of tweezers. Regardless of where in the world you live.
Hell, it is this exact reason I am back at it, in academia, because I need to "prove" my IT skills. True story. π
Re: Logitech
Meant to say this above, but alas, I am too tired to deal with editing....
One of my past contract IT jobs had me using a really nice USB headset with builtin mic for making/taking phone calls through my work laptop. I cannot remember the software, but was very blind user friendly and thank the Gods, because their standard business hardware phones I could never use.
Anyway, the headset (I believe) was a Logitech, and it was absolutely amazing. I can definitely see a benefit to using something like that over a wireless design. π
