Fun with Android

Just have to say how much fun I am having on Android since I switched with all the tinkering I am able to do. Like being able to set long presses of my volume buttons to skip tracks. That's something I could never do on iOS unless jail broken, and that has been almost impossible for a while now. Just one of those little convenience things. Plus just the stability over all has been nice. Don't feel like I'm missing anything since having made the jump. Last time I gave Android a serious look before this was back before 8.0 I think, and definitely couldn't say I wasn't missing anything. Really impressed with how far TalkBack has come.

I don't except for the Bible app, and yeah, it would be nice to be able to stop TalkBack sounds during continuous reading.

I switched to Samsung phone and it seems that I am not really missing anything. I recommend switching to Jishuo or its international version CSR. It is a world of difference with the extensions and tools.

I tested Jishuo, but found it to be complicated, plus no built in Braille keyboard or quick language switching made it a no go for me. I know I could use the old Soft Braille keyboard, but like the TalkBack Braille keyboard much better. Plus I like the talkback gestures more. I'm glad Jishuo exists, because they push the envelope and show what is possible. I don't know if half the stuff we have now in TalkBack would exist if it weren't for Jishuo. I can't prove that, just a feeling I have. We didn't get multi-finger gestures until after Jishuo came along.

You can download AutoTTS or Vocalizer from the Play Store to have auto language switching enabled.

Hi all, shame no Braille with CSR yet. what extensions make it better than talkback?

Check the extensions section of the app. I am new to the app, so I have only one extension to clear all apps with a finger gesture.

Under Downloads And Resources, there are several Talkback Gesture schemes ya can pick from. I recently made a keyboard for Jieshuo called "JVox", though I am going to reupload it, as the description for it is kinda, messed up.. And there is no way to delete comments after creating one. (Not that I know of anyways...) Yes, Jieshuo is quite powerful and well, can be overwelming for those new to it. Check out the Jieshuo Pages on Accessible Android, is hyour best bet for keeping to date with things among said screen reader. They also have a Telegram group as well.

Hi, yeah I am part of that group and it has been a big help. But for now I will just stick with TalkBack. But like I said, I'm glad CSR exists. Competition is good, keeps people on their toes.
