disney plus and direct touch area

hi guys. i have updated my ipad to 17.4.1 (latest update). disney plus is also latest version. when playing something, there is a "direct touch" area in the app which lets you go back/forward on whatever is playing. this does not work with voiceover at all. i have tried adding it to the roter, adding it to the selected apps, removing it again, and all of the other usual steps you would take. holding the ipad in portrait or landscape does not make any difference either. appart from using the skip back/forward 10 seconds button, there seems to be no other way to advance or rewind a movie without the touch area. has anyone a work-around for this, or do i have to keep pressing the "skip back 10 seconds" until i get 20 minutes back? cheers, patrick

It's been a while since I used that app, but I used to turn off direct touch because if you touched that section, it would jump you to a different part of the video.

When direct touch was off, you could just use it like a slider and swipe up or down, but as I said, I haven't used Disney Plus in some time.

Oh, and I've been using it on my phone, so there might be some differences.

hi, tried it both on the phone and on the ipad. no luck with it either turned off or on using roter settings or per app settings. disney say apple problem, apple say disney problem. its the usual, noone wants to address it directly. by the way, the customer rep that i spoke to also confirmed that the same thing happens with the paramount app. cheers, patrick.

what happens whe you go to settings>accessibility and turn direct touch off from there? Or when you triple push thge power button to turn voice over off and back on?

Hi Bruce, nothing happens. it is the same whether i turn direct touch on and off or whether i turn voiceover on or off. the direct touch area does work if voiceover is turned off, as my wife can use it. however, once voiceover i on, it doesn't matter whether direct touch is on or off. thanks, patrick.
