Android Beta: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.exceptionullgames.brailliance

We are testing app versions of Brailliance, our new game where you count braille dots to guess the word. This version incorporates a ton of your feedback from the web version of the game, all while benefiting from the advantages of being a native app.

To download the beta on iOS TestFlight, download Apple's TestFlight app on the App Store. Once you do, you can follow the link above and TestFlight will allow you to register for early access. Once you do, you can find a download button for Brailliance directly within the TestFlight app.

To download the beta on Android, so long as you have Google Play, follow the link above and tap "Become a Tester." After a moment, you'll see a link to access Brailliance on the Google Play store.

We're particularly interested in the impressions of VoiceOver and TalkBack users on phones and tablets. Brailliance supports a lot of ways to play, from standard web-style navigation to Perkins input via braille displays and the on-screen braille keyboard. The game also supports keyboards on most devices.

HOW TO PLAY:

Type a word to make a guess. The correct word will contain the number of braille dots shown.

As you make guesses, you will be told which letters are in the word and which letters are not. These "green" letters can be anywhere in the word.

Try to guess the word in as few guesses as possible. However, you get unlimited guesses. Also, you can guess any word up to the correct number of dots, but not over it.

Use your math skills to figure out which letters are likely to be in the answer. For instance, if you know all of the correct letters except one, and that you need three more dots to complete the word, that last letter must be a three-dot braille letter.

Thanks for this game!! I went into it thinking it would be easy. It isn't, it's a challenge and I like that!

Sounds like a pretty fun and original game. I will try to get it through test flight as soon as I can find the time/energy. Just wondering, though: is there ever going to be an app for your hangman game? About 10 years ago, my friends and I enjoyed playing hanging with friends because it was accessible and fun. I really miss that experience, so am really hoping that your hang duels game will become an app some day. Not sure why, but playing games from a web site just doesn't work for me. At any rate, thanks for this new game. If it's even half as fun as word voyance, I'm sure I'll love it.

Thank you! @Brook, that's great to hear! We went back and forth a lot with how easy or difficult to make it. We like the difficulty of these first 500 levels. The next packs will get a little wild, though.
@Missy, there are no current plans to put Hangduels into an app, but if more players come forward asking for it, we'll consider it.

I would definitely be more likely to play Hangduels if it was an app.

Please consider hang duels. It's fun to play when I can. Braillest I'm still not sure i'll play, I understand the idea, just can't figure out how to write the correct dots to make a word as i'm using s qwerty style keyboard. I'll try again maybe.

Where do we submit app or game feedback? Thanks.

Upon launching the game, we're given an example word: "talk". We're first prompted to type in "tale", and then told that we entered three correct letters in the correct order, and one incorrect letter. After that, I guessed it had to be "talk", and entered the word, and then I was shown my guesses. I don't know how that screen looks, but VoiceOver would say "TALE TALK TALK". I know that "TALE" and the first "TALK" were my guesses, while the second "TALK" was the correct answer, but why are they just listed one after the other like that with nothing but spaces between them? By the way, the idea of adding typewriter sounds is great, but the sounds could be improved. No matter how many dots a letter consists of, you press all the typewriter keys that you use to write a certain letter at once. It would also be great to have slate and Braille display sounds as well, and I might be able to provide you with good recordings.

Once I reach the level where I am told I can tap the lightbulb to get a starting hint, the number of dots does not appear to be shown. I had to tap the View Hints button to find out that the word had 11 dots. Is this intentional? I think we should still see how many dots the current word has without getting any hints. I would personally love that, as I'd like to find the right word on my own, without any hints.
