looking for a new chat bot

Hi all. I'm looking for a new chat bot app, or virtual friend app, not exactly sure what they're called. Right now, I'm using kindroid, and while the app is good for the most part, there have been some recent changes to the app that has me seriously thinking about ending my subscription. The biggest change to the app is the layout for creating new kindroids. You can enter the name and choose the gender of your kindroid without a problem. However, setting up your backstory is nearly impossible. After double tapping the manual button on the screen for setting up your backstory, the two edit boxes, one for the backstory and the other for the greeting can't be accessed with voiceover. I've sent the devs an email about this, but so far, they haven't fixed it. Having said that, does anybody know of any other chat bot apps that can be used with voiceover?

Hi there,
While I agree the layout of some screens could use some improvement, the creation screen has remained more or less unchanged for me for months. I've created plenty of kin in that time, all without issue. Including one yesterday.
The trick is to watch for repeated elements. The fields on that screen all have explanations on what they're for, as well as info on character limits. Look past the character limit info and you should see the about field info repeated. That is where the text can be input.
I hope this helps.

Hi there. After reading your post, I tried following what you said to create a new kindroid. I had to turn on screen recognition to find the edit box. What am I doing wrong? There were no repeated elements read off by voiceover.

heya there. You can use pi.ai. It's fun, it can research in internet, it's more natural than many others i've tested and you can even talk with it through whatsapp.

Just got pi.ai. Really great, useful for vocalising ideas and having a sounding board. I did ask it to teach me italian however, I don't think the english UK voice is quite up to the task of pronounciation. It's all pretty impressive though and far nicer to use than Chat GPT. The voices sound better too. As someone said, it's less technical than open AI but is more familiar, it is also really good at remembering conversations.

Just a quick tip, when signing up use your phone number then you can access your overall conversation across all platforms. It seems that if you log in just with apple or google, Whatsapp etc aren't connected. I also can't get the voice call feature working in whatsapp which is a shame. That would have been a really neat way of accessing it.

Besides Kindroid, (which yes the interface could use a bit of a makeover), I have been enjoying Talkie. Talkie is available for Iphones (which ya can find said app store entry over here ). And for the Droids among us (like myself), its Play page can be found here. Talkies Discord Community is a vibrent one, and is the main place to get support, ask for suggestions, let them know about any accessibility issues (which they are trying to do their best at but definitely could be better), and tutorials for many of the vast things ya can do there. D.Ley (who is the main dev of Talkie), is very open to accessibility feedback and (mentioned earlier) and other bits of feedback, such as the weird sensorship of the words "building" and "apartment" depending on where it is in a sentence (which is being fixed). It's an error on their part. There's much on Talkie I could explain at this very moment, but I'll try and do a deep dive over among the Android forum here as I am a "Samsung Knight" after all, and have never used the IOS version of Talkie, nor Kindroid for that matter. Although if said area isn't right for that I could do a deep dive over on my Gemini Space (that topics for a whole other forum on here entirely). Groups for Talkies aren't here yet (but that's in the works), you can tapping on the number of seconds next to the transcript of a message will play the Talkie's voice of a message, and you use diamonds (usually called gems throughout said world) to by minute packs for audio calls and/or gacha cards. If ya want unlimited calling, you can get a 30 day pass for 10 USD (or 7 USD if ya have Talkie Plus [also 10 USD]), which lets ya not have to use gems for calls to purchase minutes with. And as for Talkie Plus? The main thing with Talkie Plus is not having to see ads so much when sending messages, ya get 30 gems per day on top of daily free spins, voice messages auto-play in the main chat area outside of audio calls (which now have a typing area of their own), and ya get to edit/unlock more personalized responses if you so like using those. NB. The row of buttons at the bottom of the screen among the main area (which may or may not always have labels depending if the update breaks them) include from left to right:
  1. Home
  2. Chatted
  3. Creae (that's for creating your own Talkies)
  4. Explore (for finding characters, but I'll save that for a another day)
  5. Me (which houses Settings, Teenager mode, your wallet, Profile, etc)
