Or at least play where I left off when I close the audio.
I've tried both vlc and foobar and they have features that say things like, save on exit or something like that, I press enter on ok, close the player and open it again with the same file and it doesn't work.
They're mp3 files but that shouldn't make a diffirence should it?

vlc is annoying me.
Sometimes it seams to work with no issues and other times it doesn't work.
I wonder if you need sertain info for it to work correctly.
I'm onestly thinking of jumping back to winamp and leaving it there, no it's not the most stilish of players but it'll do what I need for now.
I hope someone can help me.
winamp seams to work.
Out of all the players, winamp seams to work.
TO do this you need to go to options, then arrow down to history then tab to play/resume and arrow down to always then either press tab to ok or press enter.
For once i'm actually going to leave this post up because others may have the same issue as me and it's really frustrating.
Winamp
Winamp is best for that. But i'm having a different problem. I reinstalled on a new machine and its not taking my old settings. I don't remember how to start over from scratch so if someone sees this and could help I appreciate. I'm using vlc as temporary media player. Its doing the job but not as nice as winamp.
What exactly do you need?
I set it up using the old bento skin, and just use the normal controls.
left right, forward back, c play/pause, that kind of stuff.
This might help in the future: https://www.christophgrether.de/backuptool/
It's a winamp backup tool. I don't know how accessible it is but it's probably worth checking out.
What settings have you change? I might look into them.
winamp
I haven't changed anything but reading your comment I'm trying to remember if I selected modern skins. I haven't changed anything. When I open winamp the library bar comes up which blocks everything then a website opens asking me to choose something. Maybe I haven't installed it properly. I can do it again. All I know is that on my old machine, what ever I was playing there was a very big boost and presence in the audio. So maybe I need to go back and download more plugins but i'm not sure. Thanks for the link I will check it out later.
Calliope perhaps?
Calliope has the option you're looking for.
It's from that nathantech site.
Now the question is, does it work?
I think I only got it to work for mp3 files.
That guy does have some useful apps, shame he's not keeping them maintained.
Oh I've tried that app.
It's not for me.
Boost in volume in winamp.
Perhaps you used the EQ, you have to control tab to somewhere, then press s to open the eq menu but from there I can't help. If you use the left and right arrows in that part; it will pan the audio so it's up to you to sentre it.
