I would never buy one of those.
For over a thousand dollars that thing is really expensive and I think that it doesn't even use the latest version of the Raspberry Pi. If I am going to buy something that expensive I would expect to get the latest available or at least version 4 since the latest was just released about 6 months ago.

Irrespective of any opinions re: price, I do think it's important to present the facts as they are.
1. Raspberry Pi 5 is indeed the latest Pi, yes this is true. However, the Pi and the Pi Compute Module are two distinctly different products. The pi itself is a dev board, and the Compute Moddule is meant for deep embedding into end products, such as the BTSpeak. The 4th generation Compute Module is the current latest board revision, so they aren't preemptively using out of date hardware. A CM5 has been announced, with a release date yet to be determined, and without going into too much detail I will simply say that the BTSpeak is very much openable and serviceable if you know what you're doing and is modular in nature, so a board upgrade would be possible with this form factor. I predict the Pi foundation is probably due for a CM5 release some time later this year or next depending on release timelines and chip availability - remember, nonproffits are still getting back on their feet given chip shortages, and The Raspberry Pi Foundation isn't Apple, I.E. they can't just make their own chips to get around chip shortage whoa's. That and Broadcom's in trouble given how many business customers they fleased in the VMWare acquisition.
