Hi all,

Quick question. Recently got the airpods 2nd gen pro which I love by the way. Now I'm sure when I first got them in settings it showed the battery level of both buds and the case. Now even with the case open or shut makes no difference in settings it says left ear x% right ear x% case but with no % level. Did I imagine it used to tell me the battery level and if not why has it gone and any ideas how to get it back.

It should tell you the charge state when you open them near your device.

Also, you should be able to see the charge in your today view, home screen and swipe right with three fingers, assuming you have the battery widget in there.

The best thing for anything that isn't working as it should is restoring to original settings. In this case, you'll have to un-pair airpods pro 2 from settings > bluetooth, which will also remove them from your account. Lock your phone, wake it up, open the airpods and it should prompt you to pair once more. Hopefully this will restore your battery charge indicators.

The apple support article describing how it should work is here:

Unpairing worked. Should have tried that first doh! Thanks anyway.

It's the scorched earth approach and people are, quite rightly, reluctant to do it. Luckily bluetooth connections aren't quite as fussy as resetting a an IOS device or mac.

Glad you found a fix.
