Even the crystal-clear Siri voices don't breathe at all, while Alex does. I would love to use Alex, but the voice is too large and his intonation is not significantly better than the tiny synthetic voices like Fred. Also, Alex' breathing sometimes sounds artificial. I would use a new, more natural version worth the size though, which is unlikely to ever become a reality.

Not only that, Alex has not been updated since it was released now everyone is on the "I want another voice!", bandwagon. I'll never understand why people want more voices giving Apple the I don't give a !!!. Thanks let the tech company not update software just outsource. You want forty year old technology whereas Apple should be pushed to stop caring about money and more about their core at one time. Sorry, I'm barking up another dead end tree. Yes I know Alex hasn't been updated in 20+ years.

I'd not be surprised if we do this year, 11labs and happi, I think that's what it's called, comes to mind.

Voices are improving at such a great rate this year that I'd be shocked if apple doesn't come out with anything.

If they do, I really hope they teach the thing how to use the correct intination.

Perhaps Apple will come up with a female version of Alex, that also breathes (artificially, of course).

Maybe they will call it. . . Alexa! 😈

I'd probably use it.

@Siobhan, not you but the moderators will I soon address with regards to your irritating attitude quite soon already, but not before I explain what I meant by "artificial" there. Breaths are sometimes cut off in the middle, and Alex sometimes begins talking while still inhaling. Oh, and he doesn't quite know when to breathe or not, not to mention the weird intonation. As for those demanding more voices, just never mind them if you're not interested, okay? I was just trying to share some observations and both strengths and weaknesses of Alex, without getting off-topic or offending anyone. The posting guidelines page should be your first stopping point before any thread.

I was all joky on her other thread and said i'll back off on reporting and I will but I doubt reporting will really do anything.

Thing is we all have our own senses of humour and the applevis staff can't really warn someone because of that.

as eenes said, if you don't want to talk about voices,, don't, we want new voices because, well,, they're new, they'll probably be nice to listen to and if i'm very lucky, I'll find one to switch with alex.

As for 40 year tech, no, some of us wanted eloquence, but that's not what we're talking about, we're talking about voices like in 11labs, if you've not tried them; do so, i'm sure you'll really like them.

@siobhan,, you really do act like people don't write to apple, trust me; we do, it's just that they don't fix bugs in voiceover.
