iOS 17.4 and TVOS 17.4 betas are out! Can't speak to TVOS, as I do not have an Apple TV. iOS, however, has new options for stolen device protection, Sideloading for EU, third-party game stores, and lots of fixes. Sadley, the bug where Eloquence does not start upon first boot is not yet fixt. VoiceOver has object detection without LIDR, as when my iPhone 12 Pro Max rebooted, VoiceOver said, object detected. I'll do some more testing on that front. the beta on iOS is stable, with not many new bugs, as far as I know.

Your Feedback is Important to Improving Accessibility on Apple platforms
Don't assume that Apple is aware of a bug or that your report won't make a difference - submitting bug reports directly to the company helps them reproduce and resolve the issue faster. Your report may provide crucial information. The more reports they receive, the higher the priority they give to fixing the bug.
If you're using a beta version, use the Feedback Assistant on your device to submit feedback and bug reports. If you're using a public release, follow the instructions on this page.

sideloading?
So is the sideloading only available for the e u and not anyware else?

Headings In today tab of news ap not working
Unfortunately, this is an issue in iOS 17.3. But since we’re moving forward and testing, it is also an issue in iOS 17.4 beta. So if you go into the today tab of the News app, navigating my heading is now not possible. Apple accessibility is aware of the issue. However, it needs more people to reach out so that they have an incentive to fix it. I believe the issue also exists in the sports tab of the news app. But it’s predominantly an issue in the today tab.
Text Selection Not Working
I have already filed , a bug report on this. This is the text selection in the rotor. No matter which option you choose, line, word, page, etc., no speech is spoken telling you what you have selected.
Per Voice Settings
I noticed the other day that all of the sliders in the per voice settings are now adjustable, rather than having to manually tap on increment in decrement buttons like crazy.
If anyone is in the EU on this form and can try side loading, I’m very curious to see how it works.
I’m myself living in the US, so I don’t get to try it.
I’ve noticed that 17.4 has been extremely stable. My phone does heat up a lot and it goes through the battery really quickly, but that’s to be expected with the beta and also using your phone as a hotspot.

As I always ask everyone, did you reset all settings to see if this occurs even after that point? That’s an important part of beta testing. I’m using several devices to test iOS 17.4 beta and have not yet come across that issue. Not saying that it doesn’t exist. But even editing this post, I used tech selection and Got voiceover feedback
Re: Bug in Apple News app using VO
I am not testing the betas since I only have one iOS device (my iPhone) and that is too important to me for betas.
But for one of you beta testers out there that would like to provide some feedback on the News app for me, here it is:
Problem: When using VO and closing an article in the News app by hitting the "Back" button, focus does not return to the listing of the news article one was reading. Rather, focus returns to some random position in the list of articles. This makes it difficult to read sequential articles without a lot of hunting around.
Contrast this to the behavior when exiting a group of articles within a section. Here, when hitting the "back" button to return to the list of news articles and sections, focus is returned to the section which one just exited. This type of behavior should also happen when exiting individual articles within a section but does not.
Steps to reproduce (if needed):
1. Activate a group of news articles within a section such as "Politics" which is under my "Favorites".
2. Navigate to a particular article within the section such as "This article'".
3. Activate the article ("this articlel"), i.e., open the article.
4. Activate the "Back button" to close the article.
5. Expected behavior: Focus should be on the original article that the user just closed, i.e., focus should be on "this article".
6. Actual behavior: Focus is on a random article in the list of articles.

A small bug in 17.3. . .
So this exists now in 17.3. I am confirming if it has been addressed or resolved in the current beta of 17.4.
The bug is a small thing, but here goes:
1. Go to Settings > Safari. Double tap here.
2. In the Safari settings, navigate by Heading until you reach the 'Tabs' section.
There should be 2 buttons as of 17.3, a Tab Bar and a Single Tab button.
What you actually get are 2 unlabeled buttons.

ios 17 accessibility
as i see this ios has many VO. accessibility buggs, i think this is first time apple not care of accessibility, i still worried to update to ios 17, any hope to see fixing for these issues? do you tink that latest beta is going better? i've iPhone SE-3.
Brian.
In 17.4 the buttons are labeled correctly. There are 3 buttons FYI, Tab Bar, Single tab and tab bar in landscape. Hope that helps.
Thanks Andy
While I am one of those folks who locks their iPhone in Portrait mode, it is still nice to see more tab browsing options.
As for my issue, I am not sure if it has fixed itself, or if I have been hallucinating, but looking at Safari settings today, and the buttons are once again labeled. . . 🤯
Re: A small bug in 17.3. . .
