IS FLICKTYPE DEAD?

Flicktype hasn't worked for some time now.
Does anyone know if it is still being developed?
I'm in the beta program, and haven't heard a thing, and the last version for testing has expired.

It would be a shame if Flicktype were abandoned. It is by far my favorite way to enter text on my phone.

Anybody know one way or the other?

Seconding this question. It is a great app and I used it every day.

It doesn't appear to work on iOS 13 at all.

Anyone have an email address for the developers?

I depend on flicktype daily, otherwise, I have to tote a keyboard around with me, and that's a pain. I know it doesn't work very well under iOS 13 as a third party keyboard, which is crappy, but at least it works as a stand-alone, so it's still usable. But gosh, I sure hope it's not dead. MBraille is good, but the problem is it has to be in self-voicing mode, and that's tough, because I'm always listening to books or music or watching tv as I type, and since mBraille goes into self-voicing, whatever I'm listening to goes off while I type, how annoying. Anyway...

There is a user forum of Flicktype users on Groups.IO at:
https://flicktype.groups.io/g/hello

The developers used to post info and answers to questions there but I haven't seen posts from them in a long time. Other users seem to be similarly frustrated with the problems in iOS 13 and the lack of response from the developers.

I think they might have been having a hard time justifying the work on it due to the limited user base and may need to get on and actually make a living.

I don't know much more, but you might learn more on the Flicktype list. Too bad, this is a truly innovative, useful, and very easy to use app. Seems a lot easier to use than the new Apple option in iOS 13.

Flicktype is way better, because I can type with both hands, quickPath under iOS 13, I still have to hunt and peck to type. I hope flicktype will still be developed, it's nice to have the ability to use a touch screen and use both hands to type on it like a real keyboard.

I heard that with the update to iOS 13.2, this had apparently fixed third-party keyboards, which in turned, fixed the issue that people were encountering with FlickType keyboard.

I myself haven't tried it yet as I'm in the middle of upgrading my iPhone, so I uninstalled FlickType.

Although with iOS 13.2, I do find myself using the Swipe keyboard more and more. I do plan on reinstalling and resubscribing to FlickType once I get my new phone, so will see at that point.

Hi,
It works under messages and stuff to send a text, but when searching for something in youtube or typing a new email, it jumps around and dismisses itself like crazy.

I rarely have issues. Including 13.3 beta. Although, I’m starting to use swipe to type more. To become more proficient. Also in my thinking that FlickType is pretty much dead.
There’s been no official announcement to our beta group, but developer has dealt with some challenges. I can only hope with others that it continues.

Good news folks, today has seen an update to FlickType which now makes it VoiceOver friendly with ios seventeen. Previously this wasn't possible. I still use it so regularly that my primary phone is still on ios sixteen, but I updated my old phone to seventeen so can confirm FlickType is stable again. The one small caveat however is that the two finger double tap gesture to access numbers isn't working yet. Hopefully this is a relatively quick and easy fix and Kosta will be able to release a quick bug fix update for this. It's still by far the best typing solution for VoiceOver in my opinion. And yes, I type this message using FlickType!

Downloaded it a few days ago, only to delete it after confirming that I wouldn't have it as an extension. Now we have an update? I presume this is still the case?

Hi, I cannot find it in the App Store! Where can I download Flicktype? I need this back in my life!
I’m so glad Kosta was able to start development with the APP again!
Thanks!
Dom

Unless a new developer has taken over the project, the original developer has it exclusively on their website, or something else altogether, I don't think anyone is going to see FlickType anytime soon.

These articles are a little dated, but do read them.

The system wide keyboard is dead, and is highly unlikely to return unfortunately. The latest update however makes the container app stable again in ios seventeen which is very welcome, but unfortunately minus the ability to enter numbers. Praying the developer adds the numbers section back in...
