hi all,
a friend upgraded to iOS 17.2 yesterday. as he is not as tech savvy as I, he asked for my help. how ever the power went out as the update was prepairing, thus, couldn't wait on the call, as we were on wifi. when the iPhone came back up, Samatha was speaking. the power was still out, so I didn't find this out until a few minutes ago, at time of writing. I told him where to go, and indeed, Eloquence was not listed in settings>accessibility>VoiceOver>speach>voice. . also, eSpeak NG was deleted. any idea what could be causing this issue?

No, but a restart might be the solution.
As suggested multiple times...
restarting does not work.
for him, restarting does not fix this problem. as a beta tester myself, I reported this, and posted in the beta forum on here. i'll talk to him. he said he'd call me back. that was my first question.
Corrupted upgrade?
If he was connected to power and the power went out in the midst of the update, the update could've been corrupted, maybe. Then again, that's only the case if the phone was below 50% when the power went out. That's the only thing I can think of. I updated to ios latest version, but eloquence still kicked in after updating. If restarting didn't work... the only other thing I can think of would be resetting all settings by going to general, transfer or reset, and resetting all settings.
thanks
a restart indeed fixt it. the power went out at my place, not his.
