I am trying to change the speed on a backing track. This has always worked in the past, but this particular track just vanishes when I try to change the speed. Is it an issue with file formats or something to do with DRM, perhaps? I bought the album from the iTunes store.

Try to check the file format. Make sure the file format is compatible with Amadeus Pro. Though I'm sure you've already done this, it's always good to double-check.
You can also try to convert the file. If DRM is the issue, converting the file to a different format might help, although this can be tricky with DRM-protected files.
I think it might be a amadeus bug
I've tried this with multiple supported, non drm protected files and... The file just vanishes as well. Its probably a bug with amadeus itself.
